Telus ICS update is available now

It says my device does not support software upgrading via kies! what?!

Are you connecting via USB? You can't do it via WiFi. Is Kies on your PC the latest version. Update first. If you have the latest Kies, your phone is a Telus SIIX and connected via USB then it will work.

NICE!!!lol

doing it tonight!

do you need to re root?
Most likely.

Not even sure what Kies is and what ICS is. Tried reading about it and just not understanding the concept of it. Do I need it? LOL

Kies is a program that you install on your laptop or desktop to manage files and upgrades on your Samsung phone. You can get it from Samsung's website here.

ICS (stands for Ice Cream Sandwich) is an update to the Android firmware, which is the program that runs the phone, kind of like Windows. If you've not done anything to your phone then you still have Gingerbread, which is Android version 2.3. ICS is Android 4.0, and is a substantial upgrade to the software on your phone that includes a number of new gadgets and little cosmetic touches.

If you're not too computer savvy you may want to give Telus a call to ask for assistance with upgrading to ICS, or you could just leave well enough alone if you're satisfied with your phone as it is. Or you can ask questions here, Google instructions on how to update using Kies, and try it yourself. You may find that giving Telus a ring is the best course of action, if only to have guidance on the phone and someone to ask questions to while you upgrade. That's what tech support is for.

If you have any other questions, ask them in this thread or PM me.

ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) is the latest version of Android software for your phone or tablet. It improves performance and adds features like face unlock, easy task management and some other stuff. Do you need it, no, do you want to have it, yes.

You need a PC and you need to install Kies software on it. You can get Kies for PC and Mac here: Kies Samsung

Once you have installed the software on your computer then you need to connect your phone with the USB cable.

I only did this once and this is from memory so it may not be exactly as I indicate...

Once connected there should be a notice that a new software is available. Click on the update and watch the screen progress bar go. Your phone will reboot, you should see the word Odin and some small text at the top of the screen. You will get a neat little Android guy on the screen as it updates. Once it is done installing the phone will reboot and apply the update, a count up (1 of many, ie 150) will start counting. Once done you phone will start up and you will have lost your configuration of home screens for the most part, but you will have the cool new version of Android on your phone.

But it doesn't work. i reinstalled Kies twice, and tried three different usb ports. I get: Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies.
Current firmware version : PDA:KJ3 / PHONE: KJ3 / CSC:KJ3 (TMB)

It did, but then i flashed it back to the stock rom and factory wiped it. so its back to stock totally.

It's a long shot, but you might try reflashing to stock using the instructions in Blue1k's thread. I know that it took me two tries to root my phone, it may be that you'll need to try flashing to stock again.

EDIT: Jesus Xerxes, are you following me around? :p

So i checked the flash counter... it says No...so i dont need to reset it.. but ill try anyway. lol
EDIT: So done that, still no luck. It was mentioned on XDA that you should have TLS (Telus), instead of TMB (T-Mobile)
So it would seem that you do not have the stock Telus ROM installed even though you used the guide. You will need to make sure you get the Telus ROM and try going stock again.

EDIT: Did you not backup your stock ROM before modding? You could use that.
