Pick up Incredible right away or wait for bugs to be fixed?

For fear of being flamed pretty hard...this is kind of a bigger, better version of the Eris. They already worked the bugs out. Of course there are plenty of new things to the Inc like processor and memory.... but it's not like Blackberry trying their first ever all touch screen! :)

HTC has had time to figure things out on an all-touch Android device...and Google got them to make THEIR device, so if Sergey and Brin trust them, so do I.

Actually the Nexus One is the bigger, better version of the Eris (minus Sense UI, but add Android 2.1) They both have a trackball as well.

This is Verizon. They test their phones ad nauseum. I think you're safe picking it up right away. I know I've been waiting since August last year so I'm not going to be sitting on my hands for a few weeks when this phone comes out.

i agree. im hoping that vz's demanding testing was able to foresee any problems pre-release and have things fixed. htc makes some good products spec wise but thier qc control continues to be questionable at best. i wont wait and put my faith in the testers for vz on launchday.

The Nexus One may be physically bigger in length and width, than the Incredible, but not better than it. If the rumors are true about the Incredible, it also has the same processor speed, and a larger ROM. But what has been confirmed is that it has an FM tuner, which the Nexus One doesn't have, and it has an 8 megapixel camera to the Nexus One's 5 megapixel camera. So at the very least, the benefit of the Nexus One over the Incredible is 1000 to 768 processor(if the latest rumor isn't true). The benefits of the Incredible over Nexus One are, camera, and FM tuner.

I was quoting TheSultan and his comparison of the Incredible to the Eris.

Actually the N1 has a FM tuner, it just isn't enabled. You probably won't see any difference between 5MP and 8MP because it's a camera phone and will probably use the same crappy optics. The Incredible may have a 1ghz processor, but you won't notice the difference between 768 and 1000.

It really comes down to form factor, UI, updates, and cost.

According to this "rumor" Verizon is not under clocking Incredible's processor after all:

HTC Incredible Coming in 2 Weeks to Verizon, Better Specs Possible? | The Unlockr

(Dare we hope?)

That's actually based on specs posted here by Stericson based on a device dump on the test device he got his hands on. The underclocked snapdragon was also from this forum when NKT got a hold of a separate test device. Funny thing is, when other sites quoted the specs, they intermixed the two separate sets of specs. Both devices could have been set up identically. The main difference is that Stericson's device dump confirmed that the snapdragon ran at .998Ghz and .245 @ idle. He's also the source of the 6+GB of ROM and the RAM numbers you see quoted now.
