Does Bestbuy Offer An Advantage???

Just wondered if anyone could chime in on if there is an advantage in getting the phone at Bestbuy price-wise? I know if I get it at Sprint, they would be more willing to work with me on support issues. Does Sprint have any extra fees associated with renewing a contract? Thanks in advance.

There may be price advantages, but I always like buying from my corporate VZ store. Has always made for no-hassle, one-stop place for phone replacement if mine becomes defective. I'm not sure, but after 30 days or whatever, if you buy it from Best Buy,I don't think you deal with VZ since you didn't buy it from them, but have to go through whatever BB's exchange policy, however that works

I'm not talking about damage covered by insurance, but rather mfg defect.

I think it still depends on who you have insurance through. Within the first 14-30 days you would take it to the place you purchased it from. After that, it would be whichever place you have insurance through.

Also you can purchase the buy back from them. I just bought the buyback for the Razr Maxx and if I trade it in before 6 months I get $400 back within a year I get $300. As often as I change devices it's worth it to me.

How much is the buyback? I assume when you trade it in that you pay retail for the new phone. Correct?

Will there be an activation fee at both places?

Insurance has a deductible. I'm referring to defects, like say the home button stops responding or gets stuck. Or with my original Storm ther was dust under the screen.

These things are covered by the manufacturer, and when you get it from a VZ corporate store, VZ just ships you a replacement. It doesn't go through insurance. But if you buy from another retailer then Verizon doesn't get involved and you take it up with the retailer. - I believe.

The buyback cost me $30 some sort of sale usually $60. If I were to trade it in I could pay retail for another phone or I could add a line and have $200 extra in a Best Buy gift card. I'm not certain about the activation.

Incorrect. Regardless of where you purchase the phone, if it is not damaged and within the 1 year manufacturers warranty, corporate stores have to help you.

That is what I am saying. If you buy it from a corporate store then the corporate stores
handle the problem directly. If you buy it somewhere else then a corporate store may not be able to help you.j

I like buying from Costco. You can return the phone during the first 30 days. However, for an additional 60 days, you can exchange the phone for another that they sell. If you are on a contract, the replacement phone would have to be from the same carrier.

That worked really well for me with my last new phone. I got an Atrix with a new 2 year plan. There were a few things I didn't like about it. However, I did keep it past the initial 30 days. Right before the new Infuse came out, the video camera stopped recording sound. I was able to take it back to Costco and walk out with a brand new Infuse the day the Infuse launched and was much happier with that phone for many reasons. It's great to know that you have 90 days to decide if you've picked the right cell phone from your carrier.

Costco was also able to preserve my unlimited data plan when I bought from them. Amazon was not able to do that. They also give you a free little extras kit to go with your phone. I think mine included a case, earphones and a car charger.

Okay. But what do you do if 4 month in something goes wrong. I'm not talking lost, dropped, smashed. I'm referring to a manufacture defect of problem.

No one has answered this yet for a phone not purchased at a corporate store.
