I flashed the firmware to the eris and now when I create a text it lists all my facebook contacts.

I went into accounts and sync and facebook is checked to sync daily

If I disable this will that also remove my FB pictures?

On the original eris firmware I only wanted pictures which was great but it seems like now everything is coming over.

Also how do I mass delete all the extra FB contacts?

Because as much as I want to just yell search. Pointing someone to a 100 page thread isn't always helpful. I've been through that thread and don't think I've seen the answer to this question. I could be wrong and it wad mentioned in one of the few pages I missed. If its so easy find it for us and I will be happy to thank you! This is a phone forum and searching from one isn't always as easy as from a pc.

It actually is in the tips and tricks thread. I know, because I posted it. Also, there are ways to just search the thread you are in. It is a separate search button located to the right just above the first post.

Anyway......

Go to people > menu > view. This will give you a list of possible contact sources. Uncheck the ones you don't want and check the ones you do.

thats not the problem...........that only fixes it in the people button not for texts and not for all the extra info FB sync brings in now

There's a "bug" thread for the 2.1 release that discusses this issue and how to deal with it.
This is where it all went wrong. In the time you spent typing that up, you could have found the thread and copy and pasted the link, answered the question, or at least pointed him in the right direction. Either reply to a thread with a helpful solution or don't reply at all.
Why don't people understand there is a search feature that they can use to find links to threads?!?
Albeit a little annoying when someone doesn't, we don't "require" people to search first before they post a question. The fact that you have an exclamation mark at of your post tells me that you are angry with artas all because he asked for a link to a thread. I do not understand why. In the time you spent typing that up, you could have found the thread and copy and pasted the link, answered the question, or at least pointed him in the right direction. Replying to a thread by saying "use the search" is just as bad or worse than not searching first. Either reply to a thread with a helpful solution or don't reply at all.

I agree, good point. That's why I'm posting this.
Yes I don't know how many times I almost txted someone from high school I haven't talked to in years. Maybe android is telling me to re connect with old friends?
This is completely off topic...

This is the section of the Zero Tolerance Policy which I'm am referring to in this post:
We welcome EVERYONE to this forum. We don't care if their grammar isn't perfect. And, albeit a little annoying when someone doesn't, we don't "require" people to search first before they post a question. Replying to a thread by saying "use the search" is just as bad or worse than not searching first. Either reply to a thread with a helpful solution or don't reply at all.
This kind of behavior needs to stop!
I will be asking a Mod or Admin to review this thread.

The OP flashed their phone with the leaked firmware and the issue all of a sudden started...

The thread in question is stickied ! Why the need to link to a stickied thread with a clearly explicit thread title ?

Finally, does your comment "Either reply to a thread with a helpful solution or don't reply at all" apply to yourself too ?

I like seperate topic for seperate duscussions.

As much as I love giant thread with helpful stickied information, a lot of them turn into just massive unorganized random replies.

If they are fairly specified like the how to screenshot your eris screen, reading and replying then can be helpful.

However, if specific things aleeady had their own topic, anyone that types in a topic title even close to spelling or wording as one as already listed will have a list pop up automatically.

I like this feature a lot.

I used to usually have a lot to say about moderation and organization of a forum but to me i only care if its active and I get some sort of current and up to date information even if it is after 10 know it all search fanatic bashers. :)

Go eris and android forums. Amen to that zero tolerance policy

Anyway just uncheck sync contacts in the settings -> accounts and sync -> facebook, as far as i know. Im on the 2.1 but use google voice to text.

Yes, typically. Not when I'm trying to control you all when you are breaking the rules... nope sorry. And thats not the only thing that my post said, this is what it read:

You told him about the thread but did not link to it or provide anything helpful. Rules are rules.
