AT&T Pre-Order and Release date discussion thread

Anyone have a clue as to when it'll be available in stores (i.e. I walk in, buy it, walk out with it). Also, god damn people are getting their panties in a bunch about this. It's just a phone and just a couple days...calm yo tits, seriously. I don't even think this is AT&Ts fault...most of the time it has to do with the manufacturer.

i have been told sunday by all the local stores, also regardless of whos fault it is they should keep us posted instead of in the dark! also them shipping to someone who ordered 2 days ago, but not someone who ordered 2 weeks ago is not helping validate their claim as to why they are not shipping on time!

you know.. the more impatient and frustrated you are, the more likely you are to get a defective one... and not be able to get an exchange because they are backordered. thats what I'm telling myself. I've lost count of the number of times I've been gotten something at launch, only to need a replacement and there were none.

I suppose more communication would be expected from either Samsung or AT&T. Thanks for the tip on Sunday - I'll give my buddy at a local store a call sometime soon and have him set one aside for me. I can understand some frustration, but some people are going absolutely apeshit crazy...

only reason i really care about them not honoring their 21st quoted date, is because i am up north seeing my father and knew i would be up here when it came out so i figured i would have it shipped here, but now at this rate i have to delay my trip home until sometime monday or tuesday to save shipping costs back home from here!
hopefully sunday is accurate cause then ill just go buy it at the store and return my preorder when it comes!

Where are you getting $900 more expensive? Do you realize I pay $63 a month, including all taxes and fees, on contract with ATT? Whereas you're quoting a $45 that doesnt include taxes and fees.

Also doing a little digging seems Straight Talk you only get 3G data. At least with ATT I have the ability to get HSPA+ and down the road, LTE.

No way you are getting unlimited voice and unlimited text and any data at all for $63.00 a month !!!!! What planet are you on?

AND.........i do INDEED get HSPA+ service on my phone......AND there are no fees...........just a simple tax.

My bad dude, totally understandable in your case. Half of these posts just come off as obnoxious brats who think the world has to revolve around them and their petty concerns.

Not completely fair, AT&T has created a fairly adversarial relationship with their customers. I read it as more as rage against their lack of information or fulfilling their promise (while under a lengthy contract).

First world problems :D

Hehe I do agree with that. Funny thing is I often criticize others for doing the same thing. I'll be like "what do you guys care so much, it's just a few days" or whatever.

In a month, let alone a year, when the phone newness has long worn off, none of us will give a crap about this few days we had to wait.

From my perspective, and personally I like ATT, think it's a great network and good pricing (well, for me, anyway), oh and we get the best phones pretty much too, It's just annoying nobody I've talked to from ATT seems to actually know or be willing to give a solid release date. It's really stupid, especially this close. I dont know the solution, maybe it's to pick one farther off release date like Verizon (that has its own problems). Maybe it's just better communication within ATT.

You're right I dont get unlimited (unlimited internet a thing of the past anyway) but it's enough for me so what do I care. I get 450 minutes, 200 texts, 2GB data. Too me it might as well be unlimited, especially the minutes lol. I must have a billion rollover minutes by now. I used to use barely 200mb/month data. A few months ago I started being more free with the data such as downloading a few podcasts over 3g rather than only when at home on wifi, etc, still probably use only 500-700mb/month. Texts I've bumped the limit once or twice, but rarely, even then it's cheap for a few overage texts. Anyways also get a 20% employee discount.

How much is that "simple tax" btw. I'd like to know the out the door price.

It sounds like a good deal, if I had need of unlimited this and that I'd be more about it, but as of paying only 63 you can see my incentive is not huge to save 18 bucks (and lose subsidized phones)

Also the guide I read as I googled for more info on straight talk said that net was unlimited but they recommended you limit yourself to 2-3 GB's anyway. Which is basically the same as I have.

The HSPA+ part is good, again what I had read just mentioned 3G. So I guess it's just lacking LTE? (No ATT LTE in my area currently anyway that I know of, but it might get here one of these days and would be a nice perk)

You can not cancel:(

I got them to cancel it since it has not shipped yet and there is no charge to the credit card until that time.

They wouldn't let me change the shipping address which is what i really would need since i ordered with the intention of picking up the phone at my local att store while I am home on break. But now that the date is pushed back after my break ends, I need to just can the whole thing.
