Thanks sony for our xperia PLAY

Disappointed in this news of course. After making the mistake of buying an old iphone when the new model was out, I thought for once I'd have a phone that runs the latest operating system. Then Sony gives this news... I'd rather they give us the option to update, which a few people have been saying they should do on the blog.

Ah wel, I can at least have false hope that they'll update it with later revisions of Android :(

If the testing proved it to be that unstable, I'd rather not have the upgrade. Although making it optional is always a nice thing to have if you're a poweruser. At that same time, they don't want people running something known to be buggy going around complaining that, guess what, it's buggy, which is always a possibility if they give you the option. Hell, after the recent Verizon 2.3.4 upgrade debacle, I am definitely glad to see an update NOT pushed out if it is detrimental to the functionality of the device. This is what QA is for.

He is correct, over on XDA, there was a thread dedicated to the beta of ICS that was put out, and there were all sorts of game issues. If you want your phone to play games, the dev's (of the games) would have to update their software before Sony should release ICS (if they so choose)

Unfortunately, getting some dev's to update their software is neigh impossible.

the xperia play is still a great phone, but i'll wait a month or two to see if the next one i planned to grab recieve ICS or not, if so, the xperia play will become a wifi toy only :)
and the other one (still can't decide between 2 "HTC and LG 3d phones")
sad but true, sony just lost me there... i love their phones, powerfull and neat design but i am at the point of i want more :p

I'll still keep my xperia play... just will be used as a toy instead of a phone
Same as i did with my x10a (son's toy now)

I can wait and see what's coming next

Sam, i really do still love sony's product...

quick question: Are you aware of wich sony's phone my current carrier (Rogers) will have in the next 8 month?

It will be sad to lose you Wisenos; and thanks djedgarftw for appreciating our honestly and openness. We always do our best communicate with public when we have information available to do so.

Hi i was also disappointed with the fact that ICS wouldnt be upgraded to my Xperia PLay....But still will stay eith SOny cuz they kick butt...The newer versions have been catching my eye more and more, like the Xperia S and U and P And especially the Xperia Go....But honestly, a cell phone isnt waterproof so how is that the GO is?IM not one to fall for things like that!!

If the password has letters make sure they are correct (the capitals and the lowercase) as it is case sensitive

I might switch back to sony one day(still my favorite brand)... but as for now i,m moving toward a SGSIII 16gb white... once Sony reaches with comparable spec as the GSIII i'll be coming back... i still keep all my "ex" cellphones... only they serve as wifi/offline toys or spare phones
