Android 2.3 & 4.0 WiFi Internet HD 1080P HDMI Google TV Box ARM Cortex A9 Firmware

Stane, im just trying to help both myself and the development. I do know what 3d chainfire and busybox stand for, so that was why i installed it 1st, to see the box's reaction. I will never blame anyone if my box becomes a paper weight. I will just buy a new one. I like playing with this box and i want more on your rom, even if my device is not the target of your development. Since grindinonyourm was able to install chainfire, i believe that my problems was to install busybox on same reboot, so i will try chainfire again now. I think that its a great software to test out our GPU capability.
Something i would like to point out, if you fresh install the rom and dont start superuser at least once, you cant use it, it says your not rooted, it happened everytime for me.

Yes, you should start superuser at least once... :) That's ok :)

Now im doing titanium backup after each app installed LOL.
I just installed 3d chainfire and it worked, i guess busybox is currently the only bricker. Does your ATV-108 have a GPU Mali-400 too? Im testing games now.

As Stane mentioned... busybox from Market or any other source will not work correctly... Amlogic made custom/modified busybox that work on Amlogic platform.
Most likely issues you had with mouse pointer was because of busybox you downloaded from market (or any other source)... and that's why we were unable to reproduce that behaviour.

My suggestion (and Stane's too) is: do NOT change system files and do NOT install any app that compromises system stability/change system files etc... in short - avoid installing apps or modifing system that needs root access if you don't know what you're really doing.

About superuser, I wrote about it in this thread before, I forgot to mention it as a note in every fw upgrade :)

So, Superuser needs to be started after fresh rom install to work :) Didn't pay much attention to it why is that needed but will investigate eventually :)

As for netflix... im not even gonna get into testing. I have 5 android devices which i mess with them all, and their roms always have netflix problem... i gave up on that. Problem is like 99% not related to your rom, as netflix is indeed a very problematic app.

Yeah, especially for ICS... It's visible even in logcat, netflix app is doing some hacks to display overlay on ICS...

and im not sure, but it looks like netflix uses the native player on amlogic platform, silverlight on windows platforms, flash on other platforms, maybe even voodo or magic on others. talk about fragmented.

UPDATE:
http://androidforums.com/google-tv/408166-geniatech-enjoy-tv-31.html#post4546002

these guys somehow have netflix and allot of other stuff working on geniatech...same proc as ours. worth looking into.

also, Stane1983, i must say, yer kernel runs top notch! quite quick. very nice. cant wait to get my ir remote control function back. i have no way of powering on without it. i use a program called screen off and lock. its nice for one button on screen sleep function. does little animation before power off too. i add an .ogg file to yer rom for the sound effect too. but without ir remote, i can never power back on. usb turns off in standby so keyboard wont wake device, only power cycle by unplugging and reboot brings it back.

We have same situation with usb rf remote... it's on our todo list (high priority)

Hello Everyone!!! :)

I installed the Chainfire 3d in the ATV and it works ;), so i installed a couple of games:

Reckless Racing --> It Rocks! :D
Reckless Getaway --> It Rocks! :D
Machinarium --> It's a shame, but the APK is for Galaxy Note, so the screen is vertical. Anyone know if exists any software to reverse the screen?
FIFA 12 --> Not Works!
Real Footbal 2012 --> Not Works

But... my real surprise was when i plugged in my wireless Xbox Joystick! It was recognized by the ATV and i was able to command my ATV remote!!! Try It.

I will update my post when I install more games

Sorry for my English. I'm from Argentina!

Yes, I added support for xbox gamepads to kernel, as suggested on this thread :)

Don't worry: just follow the instructions above or that come with SDTOOL froms stanes downloads site.

V-Play download section

dont follow the instructions that come with SDTOOL too closely. this can be confusing. do what the pdf say only replace the files it has listed with the ones for stanes firmware and don't put them in a folder called 'UpdateKit', just drop them on the root of the sd card. but follow the pdf for everything else. format to fat32, use card to burn uboot to sd card, eject, reinsert, copy firmware files to root of sd card and put sd card in ATV, then push reset button and plug in power. hold reset for 3 light blinks then let go and watch update.

do it again....first time overwrites a new bootloader onto device so that recovery mode will even work, second time will run update properly because you now have good bootloader...do the whole update process again. and maybe try a smaller sd card. no sdhc.

UPDATE: machinarium plays great...i installed chainfire3d, we will see if i need it for some games...i also installed the 3 plugins it needs for other graphics chips..

I dont think you are correct about the cursor replacement problem. Although i did have the problem when i updated busybox, me and grindinonyourm had this problem several times while installing or using non root aplications such as browser and stuff. Also, busybox gave me the cursor problems but also bricked the device to black screen and on all the other times i had the cursor problem, i was able to use the system without any problems.
Other than that, im glad we are all testing 3d chainfire. I do want to find out a way to get the remote working, probably after you move the remote.conf out of the kernel. my system is working fine now and im gonna test XBOX controllers and other USB gamepads.
@leoandroid what do you mean about the xbox wireless controller? you mean the USB windows adapter to get the xbox controller running on windows?

Stane, if there are any BT dongle chipset that should work, let me know... i wanna try to test pairing with audio and ps3 and wii controller.

Another question, about the ATV. I have sound and video while in HDMI and have Video while in video component cable. For some reason i have no sound, im not sure if its because i cant change the volume or if its the kernel not compatible with my box. Do you guys have sound while not connected using HDMI?

About BT, none of BT drivers are included in current kernel build, will add it for testing purposes and see how it goes...

About not having audio on component out, don't know what to say except that cable could be the problem. With my ATV-108 c03ref came low quality cable and I experience video signal problems. Will test with another cable and get back to you...

On the other hand, there are couple drivers available to build with kernel (depends on audio system). ATV-108 uses built-in M1 reference board audio dsp and that's the only audio driver installed with fw. But if you have audio on HDMI, you should have it on component output....
