Plenty of potential Galaxy owners very annoyed at O2's lack of information. Looks like more than a few will be picking up the Hero instead on orange or T-Mobile:

Just been into O2 Wilmslow, the manager there showed me an email from HO informing them to take any display (dummies) of the Galaxy off the shelves as the Galaxy has failed accreditation!!! and will be delayed indefinately. I couldn't believe this, this phone has been out on O2 Germany/France for over a month receiving great reviews. I then called O2 upgrades who told me the same spiel "not available until week comencing 17th" I then told her what I have described above and she didn't know what to say. Honestly O2 appears to be run by a bunch of clowns. I have now been waiting 2 months to upgrade to Android on O2 and they still can't come up with the goods, every other major UK provider supports an Android headset apart from O2. 4 of my friends have already left O2, 2 for the HTC Magic (Vodafone) and two for HTC Hero (T-Mobile). I dunno about you lot but I'm done with the bullshit and lack of communication between O2 departments, I think I may well be choosing a HTC handset come the 17th if suprise suprise the Galaxy has been put back again.

I just had a feeling that this was going to happen. I too have been waiting since May to gte my hands on this Phone and been trying to get information from 02 about it.
Gutted that there is an other dealy!!!!
they are now saying next week but will it really happen???
Hi Kam187, thought the phone was coming out this week so waited instead of buying direct from Germany. Now it looks like I'm back to purchasing from Germany . One question, if you stick with the original firmware, is the phone stable? Do recommend buying the phone or do you think I should wait? I intended to buy it unlocked in the UK anyway.
oh, the only two faults i've seen in the german forums are:
- Some of the keys don't work
SOLUTION: the camera button gets stuck in sometimes on some brand new units. I think its just the plastic needs some wear. Just fiddle with it a bit to maker it pop back out. After a bit of use its fine.
- Camera flash doesnt work
You should check this right away, otherwise you may need to send it back or for repair. (when you boot the phone just skip all the setup, and check the screen and take a pickture to check the flash. Its auto flash so point into a dark corner). You can do factory reset and do the setup at your leisure once the postie leaves
Not to scare you, but these are the absolute worst case scenarios. Mine was fine, and arived with the seal broken as they had already inspected it for these problems.
assuming it is that and not issue with the flash and other buttons not working.
then i sure they can and that might be what they are doing now to get it out next week.
i think some one said that the fireware had been removed from the Samsung website so i guess they are working on it and O2 will iether have a update or the orginal firmware.
lets hope we finally get to see this phone next week.
i also think 02 has underestimated how populatre this phone could be.
'Thanks for your email about knowing the availability of phone. I understand that you want to know whether the Samsung i7500(Galaxy) is available in stock. I'll quickly check it for you.
As soon as it's released by the manufacturer, we try to make it available for our customers. You'll be glad to know that the Samsung i7500 (Galaxy) will be available in our stock by 24 August 2009'
I have assumed that 02 will start selling this phone next Monday.
there are accessories on the 02 web site for this phone, but no sign of the phone it's self.
No Promo
No pic's
No prices
No hint of a release date!
which is really winding a lot of people up, the thread on 02's own forum has some thing like 30,000 views proving that there area a lot of people interested in the phone but O2 remain silent!
