Root Silent phone?

Hey everyone, I have a couple of simple questions regarding root. I have never rooted a phone before but I'm sure I can figure it out. I don't need to do anything fancy with my phone but Wifi tethering sounds like it would be worth taking the plunge.

I have been following the bugs and fixes thread about the 2.1 leak and the only think that initially kept me from installing the leak was everyone saying that the phone would randomly go completely silent. Does this also happen with the newest root rom?

Also, just to make sure I know what exactly what wifi tethering is, will I be able to tether my wii if I get rooted and set up wifi tethering?

I haven't heard a lot of feedback about the rooted rom...

in my experience of the current rom. It is very stable. The only issues that still exist are the having to login to google if you restart. Google earth still does nothing and images not loading in gmail but there is a workaround for that one. I have not tried wifi tethering so I can't speak on it.

I rooted last night and installed the latest rom and it has been very stable. Wifi tether works great with my laptop but haven't tried it with the wii. Not had anything go silent on me yet. Everything seems to be running nice and smooth and a little faster. Google Nav is great. TV.com app isn't available for 2.1 that I can find which was dissapointing but all my other apps have worked fine. I am really happy with it so far and can't wait to see what else comes out for root...

Google earth still does nothing

not a ROM issue. GEarth was made for a physical processor that the Eris doesn't have. I'm sure once official 2.1 comes out, Google will update it to work for us.

Yes actually my phone did go silent today. And my camera would not come on.. Thought I had lost it there for a minute but just turned it off and back on and no problems so far. Both functioning properly.

I've got wifi tether up and running pretty sweet. Nav is great, and having the option to delete amazon twitter and the other anoying stuff has been cool.

Occasionally mine will go silent. Cant hear anything on phone calls, no ring tone or alert. Music wont play and the alarm is going off but no noise.

A simple reboot fixes it but im starting to dislike logging in each time..

Should i be having this problem, and what can I do to fix it?

This has been a problem posted in the 2.1 leak bugs and fixes thread. It was the main reason I never installed the leak and now it seems that this may be a problem with root too? You are rooted right?

I am curious and surprised that no one has been able to figure out why this happens or how to fix it.

Turns out i did something/deleted/changed something.i shouldn't have.

Did a wipe and restore then made a back up, cause i don't want to keep reinstalling apps and changing my preferences and home screens.

Haven't had the problem since yesterday. Will update this thread if it happens again.

u guys still having the problem after the new 2.1 Official Root or has it been fixed?

not yet.. had the sign in bug for a while but im updating to ota update right now from grdlock. Hope that fixes that bug.

She's still loud n clear for now.. I'm pretty sure it was something that I did. Thanks god we can back up
