Experimental Stock Build .2233 -Latest Bionic Leak discussion

Thanks,
I downloaded the 902 FZX file to my PC,

Then when I was on the xda instructions, where it says:
"2. Install the Motorola Mobile Drivers here" - IT SAYS "FILE NOT FOUND"

I was able to download "RSD Lite" to my PC.

I like doing this stuff in advance just in case.

I assume the Motorola Mobile Drivers are important and I must find them, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know where they are.

Thx

Just some observations...I've had a few issues with 6.7.2233:

1) On Drawsome, it says that "this device does not support push notifications". I can't change the notification setting to "on"
2) Webtop keeps giving me the System Ui has crashed message. But if I use ADW EX as the launcher, everything works fine.

Otherwise, seems pretty stable.

I like the stock UI but I guess if it's not out by end of the month and I'm on vacaton I'll break and dl another launcher.

Looks like you're stuck in fastboot. I'm not sure what steps you performed that got you there but if you are able to get into fastboot then you should be able to use RSD lite to flash .902 stock rom. You can start all over if you like.

Here's Dfibs post on how to do that.

http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-9-902-rsdlite.html

After you do that, make sure to allow the system to update to .905. Then you can take the ICS leak and install it via the Bionic's stock recovery.

My suggestion is to get your phone up and running first. If you still want to install the leak, let us know.

BTW- Welcome to the forums! :)

Some of my observations:

1. Super quick adjusting to turning screen.
2. Having trouble receiving videos attached to text messages.
3. Battery seems to be draining fast but phone has made lots of updates and I am messing with it constantly... maybe after a good full charge from empty will help.
4. I can't seem to find how to find running programs so I can try swipe to close.
Even though phone is now 1.2 Ghz, it stays cool.
5. Booting up is extremely fast now.
6. My stock Bionic got a 3025 Quadrant score.
7. I can use the Lapdock/Webdock for a few minutes browsing but I eventually get "Unfortunately, system UI has stopped". And I have to reboot for phone to function again.

Anyone else have issues with embedded videos on web pages? I can watch videos in the YT app or through the video player, but if I'm using the Browser and I come across an embedded video, it won't play and I have to FC the browser to get things loading again. I do have the newest Flash installed from the market and I tried factory resetting the 2233 ICS leak just to see if that would help.

I'm wondering if the first few production runs of the OMAP4430 processor were physically locked at 1000Mhz and later ones were made so they could be clocked at 1200Mhz cause Motorola decided they would be used in the Razr also? Is your info exactly the same as this except for the speed?

My CPU is version 2 according to Quadrant, and I'm clocked at 1200Mhz. I also only installed the .2233 leak. My wife's Bionic is the exact same way. Both phones were purchased on release day back in September 2011.

1. Not sure what you mean. If you mean auto rotation is better, then I agree.
2. I haven't tried that yet. I'll test it.
3. Standby time has improved, IMO. I've been using my phone constantly the past few days since I installed the leak so my battery life has been less than stellar ( I can't help it, it seems like a totally different phone from the original :p)
4. If you long press the home button, then your recently viewed apps should pop up. you should be able to swipe to close. Works great!
5. Totally agree. Booting up, loading apps, and overall experience has been super fast.
6. I got a 3114 quad score once while messing with the developer options in the settings menu. :D
7. Hey you added one! :) Do you use the apex launcher? That usually fixes that issue with webtop. I heard that you can set smart actions to launch Apex Launcher when you use webtop. I havent' tried it yet.

As for what I noticed,

1- The camera is a lot faster. It's most noticeable when taking a pic with a lot of light. The old camera software still took a little bit to focus even with a lot of light. Low light pics still takes a while to focus and capture but there's still an improvement from the old firmware.

2- Contact pics look sharper especially in the text messaging app. It's still kinda blurry in the dialer app.

3- I've also noticed issues with flash vids in the browser. I use Dolphin HD. I might try a different browser may be the new Firefox browser but for right now it's not an issue that's high on priority list...yet.

4- And lastly, my wifi radio and 3g/4g radios have seen a definite improvement. Thank god!! There's certain spots in my house where wifi is sketchy. I would lose connection from time to time in my house. Not anymore! 3G/4G switching has improved too. I've still experience a few drop data connections but I've experienced them in places where 3g or 4g isn't optimal...mostly near some canyons where I drive through but there was no need for airplane mode or a reboot to regain my data connection.

I know what "embedded videos" you are talking about. wink wink. ;) I gotcha, powerbomb. :D

Yes, I've had issues too....watching videos from Engadget. :p

Yes, I meant "auto rotation".

Thanks, holding in the "Home" key did the trick...great!

And yes, feels like I just got a new phone :)

I don't use Apex Launcher but I will try it. I actually use Tasker and I went to "manage apps" and Disabled Smart Actions, along with a bunch of other apps, but I will re-enable Smart Actions if necessary.

I experimented and put high res pics as the contact photos which look sharp...you just have to crop them square first.

Nova Launcher works with Webtop 3.0 as well. I tried both Nova and Apex and found that I preferred Nova, so I just use that for everything now. Previously on Gingerbread I used GO Launcher EX, but it seems laggy in ICS compared to Nova/Apex.

Only downside is that you can't customize your screens separately for Webtop vs. phone mode like you can with the default browser. I guess you could use the Smart Actions trick to use one launcher for Webtop and a different one for phone, and set them up separately. Might be a drag on resources though to have two launchers running.

I have been using Apex for about an hour and it's been working on the Lapdock, which is fine to stop the shutting down. I was trying to configure Tasker to turn off Apex when I exit Webdock but I would have to be rooted. I was also trying to find a Toggle (or something) that I can turn off Apex and go back to the stock launcher when I shut the Lapdock. I can click on the Apex Icon to launch it before I use the Webdock but can't find that HOME LAUNCHER Widget icon that I can click on to exit Apex.

I've been following along this discussion cause quite honestly I am looking forward to ICS on the phone but I am not confident enough to try the leak. But I do have some questions about things to be prepared for when we do get it, which seems to be soon.

I've noticed some of you talk about Apex Launcher and I've seen that in the Play Market and that it's an ICS only home launcer replacement. I use Go Launcer Ex. Should I uninstall it, and any other apps, before letting my phone update to ICS? Will the stock launcher be something that has a lot of features or will it still be beneficial to get a launcer replacement?

You can use GO Launcher EX with ICS, but it seems to run much choppier than the launchers that were written specifically for ICS (Apex and Nova). I switched from GO to Nova after trying all three out on the .2233 ICS leak.

The default launcher seems better than before, but it still lacks certain features that I need (such as the ability to increase the number of rows per screen). There's also a bug currently that prevents it from working with Webtop, but I imagine that'll be fixed in the final OTA.
