Root Best OS for Optimus V Users

So I currently have a rooted Optimus V phone that uses the gingerbread Android 2.3.4 OS and I'm trying to decide if it is beneficial or even possible to upgrade to the most recent versions like Honeycomb or ICS. Does the hardware of the OV support these upgrades and if so are they worth it?

I've been happy with the functionality of gingerbread so far but it would be helpful to know what others operating on more current versions think. :)

I tried both Quattrimus and CM9 BobZ this week (both ICS ROMs). Very sleek, worked for the most part, but a bit buggy and unstable. The good news is that development on both has been speeding up as of late, and both ROMs are pretty close to beta. I may go back to it once everything works and there are fewer glitches. But so far, so good.

I went back to Gingerbread, with a really neat ROM I found called G-T-R Reloaded. It has a modified ICS theme, so you get some of the good stuff without the not-so-good (the ICS contacts screen and dialer are really cheap and ugly looking, IMO). You can find it here:

Umm alpha...that ROM just got out of alpha and I'm sure TDM doesn't want to go to alpha, I hope.

Gingerbread is the most stable. But ics runs really well
thank you-I've only had my phone since February and wanted to root mainly for battery issues and to get rid of the bloatware. I have been reading all night trying to figure out the best os to use. Now to get up my nerve to do it. If I screw it up, I've been wanting to upgrade anyway. :D

what is the best way to resolve the memory issue on the lg optimus v

Well.. tvall magpie rom, bobzhome IHO, and IHO mandylion have built in sd-ext support. So just have your sdcard partitioned correctly and the rom will do the rest. All our ICS roms also support this and there are apps like link2sd to add support to roms that don't do it by default.
