Phandroid and Androidforums.com's New Look!

Keep the Thanks, and rename Like to something better - such as Solution! or something like that. Do that, and then call thanks whatever you like, organize their appearance however you like, then it's all good.

But we need two mechanisms. ;) :)

Solution button to point out the solution to a certain thread would be absolutely delightful!! You know how some people (heh... me... hehe...) get lost when looking through forums for an answer, so to emphasize a solution would be awesome.
Or, maybe, an important button. Like, we can sort posts of importance (ie, updates in a huge ROM thread), and when they're marked "important", they can have a counter at the top of the thread just like the Like button counter, so they can be easily accessed.
Important and Solution buttons are my 2 requests.
Love the new layout by the way.

Defeats the original point when we requested a separate mechanism.

Again - if you have a thread that iterates to solution, the solution post often does NOT get the most thanks. People don't read threads, they read so far, then post.

Thread after thread, the problem is solved in post 30, but posts 35 through 60 are all discussing the problem with post 20 (most thanked) and then theorizing bad solutions, arguing after the fact until chaos reigns - all because there's no mechanism to point out the post that ends the chaos and solves the problem.

That's why we need a separate Solution button. Not a Thanks, not a Like, not a Share on Twitter -> a Solution <- that mods can override if abused or if the solution gets broken later.

Why not just have the mods mark the thread SOLVED and close it? They can always reopen it later if a better solution is found or needed. Let the final post in the thread be the one with the solution.

Although it appears the powers that be are completely ignoring all the feedback they're getting I will add my voice to the very loud chorus saying WAY TOO BRIGHT. I love the blue and green and everything else but the brightness is blinding and very hard on my eyes. Please give us an alternate DARK theme. Thanks.

It got better, at first it was all white. Hopefully we can get some user options for it soon though. :)

I like most of the changes. It seems to be a lot brighter now which I am not a fan of. I prefer dark backgrounds as it's much easier on the eyes - otherwise I like the buttons all being similar (except the 'LIKE' button which should really find a home by the others).
yes the like button should be "LIKE" the others. there i said it.

:ditto:

Otherwise, I've encountered no bugs and everything seems to be running smooth!

Mods, a solid step in the right direction, this site feels cleaner now and more grown up...

I come from a web design background and my ONLY beef with this site is it's lack of android css styling... being an android forum it would be awesome if when you hit the site with your android or other mobile phone it would be styled for a phone screen:

with css, the html head tag could recognize it was a phone and a separate css could be applied to 1. lower the bandwidth by loading an alternate header, footer (smaller, less imaged based) 2. reformatting the screens to be viewed better on a small screens, for example you could have the css move the names of posters above their post rather than next to it to make the thread readable without needing to zoom

I use the phandroid app and it generally suits my purposes, I live on this site night and day for the content, but have been surprised at it's lack of focus on styling for viewing on phone screens, not to be rude at all, I do love the site!

couple good resources for mobile css, I think you guys could crank out a css update in an hour or two max:

Well, because sometimes people want to discuss the solution, and that's okay.

In fact, it's probably the way that a better solution might be found or identified as a need. ;) :)
