Hey guys im new to all this programming stuff i wanna get to know the basics how to alter android developing apps all that jazz any sites or pdfs you guys can suggest? Any and all help is greatly appreciated i wanna be able to do anything and everything thanks guys themeing isnt enough for me i want more from android

o_O that's quite a task your taking on. It's quite difficult to understand especially if your new to it. Not to depress you, I'm just saying it will take some time. I suggest you start at the google AOSP page and poke around there to get an idea of things: Welcome to Android | Android Open Source

Here's some other links that will help:
https://developer.android.com/index.html
https://developer.android.com/guide/index.html
https://developer.android.com/resources/index.html

Hope that helps :)

By the way android apps are coded in Java (however I herd you can implement objective C in them). Heh.. you sounded kinda like me when I wanted to start to get into it. You can follow that here: http://androidforums.com/warp-all-things-root/491932-how-port-rom.html

best thing to do is just pick a project and jump into it

I think trying to tackle CM9 may be too much for you, until you get more experience

here is an idea for a good starting project for you

port the N850 (aka Fury aka Sean) ROM to the Warp

it is Android 2.3.6

so if you succeed, you will be giving us an upgrade

I will try to help you when you get stuck, but I am not going to spoon feed you

Use some of my Return to stock ROMS zip files as an example, but replace the stock recovery in it with CWM recovery

here is a system dump of the N850

this zip is NOT flash-able, it is just a dump

N850V1.0.0B14_system_dump.zip

I will start work on that :) ill do my best guys to get it but your all going to have to be patient this is my first task

take your time on it, the most important thing is that you learn how ROMS work and such

and if you could post detailed posts of what you are doing, and what files you are changing and stuff like that, other people will be able to help you, and other people will be able to learn from your posts

I am getting interested in this too and my brother who works on Linux for a living gave me some pointers concerning it. He was adamant about me learning Java and C before even touching Android itself :afraid: . Regardless, I think I can do it. Android and the ability to modify it is a god-send for computers. :driver:
