Best car mounts for RAZR MAXX?

I went with this:

Newegg.com - Rosewill RCGP-11001 Universal Dashboard & Window Mount for Cell Phone, iPhone, GPS, MP3

it's cheap.. does the job... and it matches my car.

Should fit any size phone as it opens up and clamps down in a ratchet style grip.

Group it up with this:

Newegg.com - Rosewill RCP-SC41 1A USB Micro Car Charger

and a cheap USB cord and you got yourself a powerhouse. 1000mAh of power should be enough to keep your phone charged even if you have GPS and music playing from the phone.

you can get the Arkon Mobile Grip from amazon for about $11 but the reviews dont look good. Alot of people complain that the ball joint wears out quickly. Its been a few months since this one was posted so I was wondering if you had the same experience?

I had it, and it worked great for a month. Then the ball joint wore out and now it's useless. Get something else.

The stock one is fantastic. It snaps in easily with one hand and supports charging and an audio in one plug.

In my opinion, it is much improved over the stock Droid X car mount.

The stock one is spectacular in all respects but one: It doesn't articulate enough. My car has a windshield so slanted relative to where I sit in the drivers' seat that mounting it on the windshield would put it way too far away from me to be useful. This was a problem with my X and it's mount as well, but I got a friction mount (which I LOVE), and the mount for the X bent in such a way that the phone barely sat above the dashboard.

The Razr Maxx's dock only rotates at the back of the phone (versus the X that had a joint in the middle) that it sits a good three or four inches above my dash, which is well into my sightline while driving, which is obviously unacceptable.

The phone holder portion of the mount is so spectacular, though, that I"m trying to find a way to get that portion of it to be compatible with a vent-clip mount of some kind. If I can get that to happen, I'm gonna be in Volkswagon/Droid Heaven. If there is such a thing, which I really have to believe there is.

Definitely taking suggestions!

(ETA, even without the friction mount, it's too tall. It's not my love of my friction mount that is preventing me from loving this mount. Just to be clear.)

I've been using this CD player mount for the past two months and love it. Not only does it work well in my car, I can easily take it with me on the road when I travel. And, unlike windshield or dashboard mounts, it places your device (any kind) within easy reach. 20 bucks and free shipping from Amazon Prime.

I too have this mount. Works great! My Maxx is encased in an Otterbox and this mount has no problems hanging on to the phone. By the way that yellow sticker displayed on the product peels off easily. The mount does not look real bad when inserted into the CD player.

I have an otter box, so it is difficult to find a proper dash mount, So I bought the Dash Crab. works pretty well, and sticks to almost anything including drywall.

only down fall is no connection ports so I have to manually plug in charger and aux cable every time.

update: :mad:the clamping part cracked this weekend an now it is junk. I think phone is just too heavy with the OtterBox.

I am also sure that spending the summer in the sun, and now nights in the cold was too much for the plastic construction.

I had the Droid X mount as well, I just swapped the arms, now I have the Droid X arm on the Razr Max mount. Just unscrew each at the ball joint and pop the ball out, swap, and your back in business (if you still have the Droid X mount, that is.)
