Just thought I'd share what the S3 can do with light usage. My last couple days were mostly texting sms & mms, little wifi and several app updates. I think there was a phone call or two as well. Anyways, didn't use it much and I am pretty damn happy with the standby time. I'm positive I could have hit 3 days but I want to get a full charge now that Saturdays here. Oh, and I was also sporting a live wallpaper as well. Just showing what light usage can yield, not throwing it in anyone's face. :D

thats insane , with my droid x even with custom rom and light usage i could at most manage 1 day an a half the most i gotten was like 38 hours

Today I went to work and it is sort of holiday. That means that not many children went to the private school where I work so with the few kids there I picked some kids that were not know "butterfingers" :p and let them in on the experiment... to play alot of games on my device till the battery was short of drained.

Well here goes:
all in all it lasted 8 hours and 33 minutes with what I would call VERY heavy use and about 4 hours of screen time...

Breakdown:
I started out surfing the net and checking my calendar and mail while eating and drinking my coffee for about 25 mins.

I then listened to an Audible audio book on my bikeride to my workplace ca. 20 mins.

I sent and received a couple of texts from and to my wife who had lost her keys to our house, and the mailbox (when will my new cover and screenprotection arrive!?) and the baby carriage.

I then called her as explaining "very complicated" places to look fo a key was just easier over the phone... this lasted about 10 mins.

Then the fun started... with a couple of breakes in between for dinner, some woodshop,
and the ocational showing of the phone to a couple of parents: camera, floating video netbrowser and calendar :p

I also received and sent a couple of texts, checked net and mail and made two 5 mins. calls (ca.)

(all times are ca. like give or take a couple of minutes while changing hands etc.)

first off they played "Cut the rope" for about 25 minutes, then some "Tetris" for 10 mins. Then they started "Call of Cthulhu: Wasted Land" couldn't figure out what it was about and quit that again after a few minutes.

They then downloaded and played "Shark or die" for about 15 mins. until I came back and discovered a floating head and an eyeball... No more downloads unless I agree.

After that little mishap they played "Cut the rope: experiments" for about 15 mins. and then back to the original for another 15 mins.

Angry birds space was next and that kept them going for almost 30 mins.

and last up was Wheres my water for the longest run of roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes on changing hands.

by then I heard the phone bleep for low battery and after recovering my now luke-warm phone I saw that it had 3% battery left and had run for about 7 hours and 30 mins.

Needing to send a few texts later when I got off work I put it in powersaving mode and turned screen brightness all the way down... 40 mins later when going out to my bike I sent a few texts and the phone was running on fumes with the power icon void of green.

I made it all the way home with out the phon dying and at the top of the stairs I received a call from my wife from out in the yard. She needed help carrying some grocerys and our kid (she had still not found her keys) so on my way back up the stairs I stopped at the foot where the babycarriage was, reached in to the footend and pulled out her keys (where I had suggested she should look as it was an obvious place to stach the keys when walking with the kid... and no I didn't hide them there) :p

Just before plugging the phone in I saw the time of the battery life was 8 hours and 33 mins.

I am very happy with the battery life and rarely have problems with the phone running out of juice. I think the phone has awsome standby time and this means that if you want to save power... you can! I must say that I had my doubts that it would make it all the way home as my previous phone Galaxy S2 (with extended battery) surely would have died with 3% left and still some tasks and time left before hooking up with a hot outlet ;-)

I'm sorry I have no pictures as I sort of almost didn't see my phone all day and I WAS still at work :p

and after I got home it was wife and baby time, dinner and laying to bed... next time ;-)

I am quite happy with battery life of the SIII.
As I am a new forum user, images will come later but my battery lasts 2 days +
My previous phone almost made it past 1 day.
I gave my SIII a static IP at home (before that my battery lasted a day) and installed an app to manage my data connection to 15minutes interval. I also use my previous charger (200mAh) for a nice slow charge and hearing that some folk's USB connection on the phone melted or burned, I think it is not a bad choice although the phone's battery is a 2100mAh, it should be able to handle a 2000mAh charger easily but I think the connection to the battery is the limiting factor.

But still 2 thumbs up for Samsung.

My battery life has been quite good and get a day to a day and a half normally. However due to my job i often spend several days away from my charger so like to have a spare battery or two. Was going to get a standard replacement samsung battery but they are expensive and i noticed i could get an Andida extended replacement battery for far cheaper and thought that, at worse, it is going to be the same as the official one. To my surprise it actually lasts longer! I need to get screenshot comparisons when i am less busy but on average it is about an hour or two longer. Now use it as my main battery. Got the Andida 2300mah battery off e.bay Uk

Is this Andida battery safe for our S3s?

i see your media server using only 5% of battery but my is away much more than that, it takes as much as cell standby :( do you know why

thanks

Media server is the audio processor for the phone. If you're watching movies or listening to music, the usage of this will go up.

Wife's Bionic Vs My first full day on s3.

Hers was used mainly for calls and texts, brightness is set to 1/3.
S3 was heavy internet, games and app usage, from setting up and deleting unwanted apps. Brightness was full, with no battery saving options. live wallpaper, photo widget rotating 2 photos.

I don't know why some people are down on the Bionic. My wife's has been a workhorse. we had about the same screen time (2h 15m) but she was 30% after 12 total hours. I was down to 6% after 10h (full screen brightness). I was trying to test the battery by running and testing applications and games that I had from my Droid 1 for deletion. I will try to search out more battery saving options an hope to stretch out my time.

I'm very happy with my 1st full charge of the Verizon i535 SIII.
4G and WiFi on the whole time. As you can see, I don't have the best signal at home (114dBm average)
But even with the poor signal, I have crystal clear, stable calls.
11 hours of deep sleep according to CPU Spy.
My normal screen time is about half that, so a day, maybe two should be no problem.
Looks like the i535 has the same Cell standby bug the rest of the versions do. But that's a non issue.

Update: I just put the phone on the charger when it went to 1%.
18hrs21mins up time with 5hrs23mins screen

I drive around all day with my job and use the maps a lot for directions, along with bluetooth audio streaming to my car for phone calls and music. I get to like 60% within a couple hours. Is that normal? I feel like this phone chews through the battery a lot faster than my iphone 4 did but then I was used to keeping that phone on the charger almost all the time. Same thing with my gs3 now actually. I get nervous that I'm gonna end up in some kind of emergency and the battery is going to die out on me at the worst possible time lol.
