Today I received via post the aluminum hybrid case I purchased off ebay.

I would not recommend anyone purchasing it if they want a case that is actually ALUMINUM, as this case has a painted plastic shell. That doesn't mean it's a bad case, just that it is not accurately portrayed on ebay. But on the plus side, it shouldn't interfere with my signal...

I'm also not liking the silicon liner. I thought it would be more of a TPU-like material. If this case drags every time I take it out of my pocket, it will be removed and relegated to a dusty drawer somewhere for emergency use only. Overall, I'd rate this 2 out of 5 stars. If it were REAL aluminum and TPU, it would have gotten 4 stars, with the last star dependent on how well it fit the phone once it gets here.

So it goes. That's the risk I run buying something from China off ebay. Hey, at least it was only $4. And maybe I will like it once I have the SGS3 in hand.

I don't mean to be a bother, but I just wanted to put in a request for someone to put up a quick review of the Seidio Surface case if they could. Thank you in advance.

In addition, does anyone have a recommendation for a case with full coverage including a front lip that also has cutouts for the power/volume? I really like some of the hybrid cases, but I don't know if I can do a silicone cover for those parts.

I'm just very surprised that there aren't more/any cases that are hard TPU with a thin layer of silicone inside for drop protection, but no silicone on the outside. At least I don't think there are any...

I have my seidio surface but no phone yet. Its just like the one on my rezound. I posted in this thread a video for the rezound seidio surface.

That is an unusual look, for sure. For a white case (not my preference) it looks nice! The one thing about those kinds of covers that sometimes doesn't work for me is that the top cover doesn't always fold back snugly behind the phone when in use. I wouldn't like the cover hanging off in free air while using the phone. How does this one do in that regard?

Sorry - I just now saw this. Actually, I don't have my phone yet, but the top cover does fold all the way flat against the back. I'll let you know when I get the phone Monday (fingers crossed).

So you're saying that the case you ordered said it was aluminum and it's not aluminum at all?! It's just a plastic case painted to LOOK like aluminum?! I'd be pretty annoyed at that even if it was only $4.

It's too cheap to be worth while returning it to China but that is the option they are likely to offer you. I'd let them know that it's false advertising and demand a refund without you having to pay to ship it back to them. If they refuse you should leave a negative feedback. Those places hate negative feedback. Mention in the feedback that the case isn't aluminum.

I wonder if all of the companies selling that case have the same case that isn't aluminum at all. Could you provide a link to the one your ordered?

Do you have link for this case?

I don't think the Verizon link works, but the case is an Incipio case, and should be on this page. The Incipio cases are usually cheaper on Amazon, just so you know. And SmartphonePedia (sp?) has them as well, with video reviews of the ones they carry.

Although I didn't actually buy the case, here are the manual steps that nascar01 provided me that worked:

shop>smartphones>add galaxy s iii to cart> select new customer> enter zip>shop accessories only > type galaxy s iii in device compatable>select the first one 16gb white > then scroll down to device covers.

Unfortunately, this color combination (White/Gray) only seems to be available via Verizon's web site and would have bought it if I had a white phone.

Since I got a Pebble Blue one (not yet shipped), I preferred the Incipio SA-305 Silicrylic Hard Shell Case with Silicone Core for Samsung Galaxy S III - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Dark Gray/Light Gray from Amazon for $20 shipped.

The link works. Click on it then type Galaxy s iii in the box for show accessories for. Then click next. I know they are cheaper on other sites but I ordered from Verizon because I get 25% off on accessories plus no one else has that color.

I paid $24 and some change with tax.

I did find one other interesting case, that user "4424" posted a few pages back. With a bit of Googling I came up with this eBay store:

The "Ultra Light Weight" models could potentially look great on a Pebble Blue S3 - the aluminum sides would cover the purple trim of the phone, while the clear back would show off the stock battery cover which is probably the nicest part of the Pebble Blue model. At least that's how I envision this case turning out. Does anyone have photos of one on their phone? Is there a US-based outlet for them?

That case is a metal bumper, there is no back. It's completely open.

Ah, I see. I wasn't prepared to navigate the VZW site; I thought you were trying to link to the product page (which I still couldn't access...). Thanks for the update/instructions. Please follow up when you get the phone to share your thoughts on the case. It looks nice, but I've never been a fan of silicone over the power/volume buttons. I'm hoping it works well because it is nice looking and has a good balance of thinness and protection that I want.

That is what an x-acto knife is for ;) Would be pretty easy on the incipio Silicrylic line of cases. But then again who wants to take a knife to their nice new case when there are so many other options out there :D.

I will do. I currently have the same case on my droid bionic. The silicone they have covering the buttons is very flexible. There is absolutely no resistance to pressing the volume rocker or power button. It is as if there is nothing there covering it. It's that easy. Don't let that scare you away. I wouldn't buy any other case than this. The amount of protection combines with the sleekness is perfect.

Ok, I had seidio cases for both my og evo 4g and then my evo 3d....they both came with a "soft" shell that wraps around the phone, and then a "hard" shell that wraps around both, that hooks onto the soft shell with 6 latches...on both, 2-3 of the 6 latches always broke off....now u might say if that happened with my og evo why the hell did I make the same purchase for my next phone? Well I got the seidio extended battery for my 3d and if I wanted a case for that, seidio was the only choice I had...
This time I'm trying to stick with oem sized batteries, and paid about $10 for an "acase" while I wait for my otterbox...it's a third of the price, same concept "hard over soft shell" but feels WAY more solid...seidio might make the best extended batteries (but they're expensive) but IMO their cases SUCK...

Hey Guys, this is going to be our new username, since I've misspelled the first one. I will be answering all the questions using this account from now on.

@Yanks - We do carry OtterBox Defender, Camo Defender, and Commuter cases for the Galaxy S3, they are just not here yet. I would also recommend Case-Mate's Phantom case. This is their new series cases and they have a built-in screen protector/shield for the front of the phone. We have images of the Galaxy S3 Case-Mate Phantom case on our site. Search for CM021189 part #.

@rjtim - We ship globally, and shipping to Philippines is $19.95 by USPS Priority Mail (for orders less than $150 USD). We also offer free international shipping if the order is over $150 USD. FedEx International Priority is also an option for shipping and the rate can be estimate from any product page on our site.

Do you charge tax for shipping to the CA?
