GS3 Case discussion thread

Well I wound up going to a local AT&T store (company store) to get the otterbox commuter they said they had in stock(they dont have it). I got there and wound up buying a ballastic case since its all they had that was close to what Im looking for.

Good thing they have a 30 day return policy as this case blocks the home button and makes it hard to depress. Im going to order a case online and take this one back later I guess. I liked it until I needed to press the home button a few times.

Great screen protector.
Great protection, with a nice lip all around the front bezel.
Great fitment as well.

Cons:
have to really work to get around the lip to press the home button.
The price: 50.00 at the corporate store I went to.

Ok, I had seidio cases for both my og evo 4g and then my evo 3d....they both came with a "soft" shell that wraps around the phone, and then a "hard" shell that wraps around both, that hooks onto the soft shell with 6 latches...on both, 2-3 of the 6 latches always broke off....now u might say if that happened with my og evo why the hell did I make the same purchase for my next phone? Well I got the seidio extended battery for my 3d and if I wanted a case for that, seidio was the only choice I had...
This time I'm trying to stick with oem sized batteries, and paid about $10 for an "acase" while I wait for my otterbox...it's a third of the price, same concept "hard over soft shell" but feels WAY more solid...seidio might make the best extended batteries (but they're expensive) but IMO their cases SUCK...

I just received the Acase Superleggera today (still waiting for the phone) for $12 shipped, and I'm very impressed by it. I think its going to be the best buy for me. One thing i noticed about it compared to the more expensive Otterbox Commuter is that the Acase has two layer protection at all of the corners. The Otterbox has only the gel at the corners.

I was asked to do a review of the Siedio Surface case I'm using, I don't have any pics yet though. I had the case a couple of days ago and just got the phone today at work so I was using it without the case at first and I thought it was to slick and I was afraid I was going to drop it, so when I got home I popped it into the case. I've had their case before and really liked it, my new one is the Amethyst color and I think it goes really well with the Pebble Blue phone. The fit is perfect!! The case has a coating on it, not sure what it's called, and it gives a lot more grip to the phone, but it's not so much that it becomes hard to get out of a pocket. It has a felt lining that keeps the back from getting scratched. It comes in 2 pieces that slide together and it feels very secure. The case extends over the edge so that there is a raised edge around the screen, I like this because sometimes I set the phone upside down, I know it's bad but it happens, this raised edge keeps the screen from contacting whatever it's sitting on. Hope this helps.

Another thing, when you have it on it kind of feels like part of the phone, not an add-on case. It's looks and feels more just like just having a phone that was built with a quality case, rather than feeling like you wrapped it up. And even though it is truly only 1mm thick it seems to add quite a bit of sturdiness.

That one's really nice too. I'd like to see actual user pics of the phone in the case! Might have to purchase this one as well.

I'd like to see a phone in it too (mine). I picked up the black one. It's plain in a clean, tight good way. It even has the cut out at the bottom of the home key, which most others do not seem to have.

It's a shame the pebble blue will never see the light of day (which is what I liked about the Fosmon), but at least it should be in a safe nest soon.

I like using my Incredible naked, but with a tether so I won't drop it while hiking in the woods and using as a GPS. In fact, I rarely take it out of the slip case without putting the tether on my wrist. Any suggestions on what case to get for my new SGS3 that will be close to naked but will allow me to hook up a wrist strap?

Just a side note. When using the Otterbox Commuter, I've noticed that if I have to move icons from one home page to another, it can be hard because it seems as if the edge of the case gets in the way.

Same thing for if I want to copy text in an app, and thus need to get ALL of the word near the edge of the screen. Annoying at times really. Then again, I guess I could use landscape, but why?

If you have motion turned on you can just tilt it to move to another home screen when moving stuff.

Does it add a lot of bulk? I am trying to choose between the Seidio Surface and the Ringke slim.
Thanks!

Those are 1 millimeter marks on the ruler. I don't know if I've seen slimmer.. also, makes it feel like a solid phone not a separate case. I didn't like how the ringke slim seems to leave the front exposed at top and bottom making it very vulnerable if dropped

just got my Surface as well. the lip is great at protecting the curved glass. The cut down size of the Steinheil Ultra Nano ends up being right at the edge of the Surface, so perfect.

I dropped my SGS2 in a surface case, face down from waist high to smooth concrete. I was chasing our 2 yr old around a store and just missed my holster. Anyway, it bounced corner to corner, face down about 3 times. No damage.

They do feel slippery at first, but after you use them alittle, they get a more grippy.

The "aluminum" case I was talking about can be found HERE.

I left neutral feedback without contacting the seller, stating the item was not as portrayed. Later that day I got an email from the seller saying they never got an email from expressing my dissatisfaction. Um, that's because I was already screwed. False advertisement is false advertisement. How do you fix that after the fact?

Now, the seller has changed the word "aluminum" to "metal." The case is clearly not METAL of any kind. I'm guessing this seller is trying to hide behind their limited English proficiency. I suspect this seller knows exactly what they are doing, though, hoping people find "metal" and buy one. And when the buyer realizes it's a plastic case, they'll decide negative feedback is not worth the hassle. Well, negative feedback is what keeps ebay sellers honest. I hope so, anyway.

Anyway, they did offer to refund my money if I agree to change my feedback. I think I'll take them up on their offer and still state the item was not as advertised. But they'll get their stars...

Well I ordered one of these as well. Figured they're cheap enough! If I don't like one I can just throw it away. Definitely better than paying $30+ for one and not liking it.
