google contacts not syncing

I've searchers threads haven't seen anything. When I try to sync my contacts with Google it always says an error with sync.....something like sync is down. My calendar syncs fine but my contacts have never been able to sync since I had my phone in November. Anyone had this problem and know what to do?

Just an idea. Do you save your contacts under google type instead of phone?

Never worked for me, so what I do is hit the menu button and then click Import/Export contacts, I think export my contacts to my SD card, then open in Astro and then rename the file to contacts.CSV, don't forget to add .csv so you can upload them to google later manually. Then I send it as an email to myself and attach it or mount my phone and move them over to my computer. Then i go into my gmail account, go to contacts, hit import and then upload the contacts.csv file and then they are there. Erased my contacts to test, synced with gmail and they were back.
