*Rezound ICS OTA is live Thread*

Just relax it will come, VZW pushed out updates to the Eris for 2 years past EOL I think. I'm sure it will come soon. I want ICS too, and the wifes razr got it and really it's nice on the phone but it's not the end all be all and just think.....the longer you wait for ICS the less you'll have to wait for jellybean!! ;)

That being said a couple vzw friends i trust say it'll be out in the next couple weeks, take it for what it's worth. Not sure if the incredible release had to do with it our just the fact they didn't want to push our a huge update to the razr and rezound at the same time?

I think you underestimate Verizon. They could make us wait until Marshmallow is released before sending us JellyBean!

I've been around a while, the release shall come, I wouldn't be surprised if JB shows up on our phones at some point and surprises folks. I could be off my rocker too ;) I'll get bored and hack up my phone pretty soon anyway if it isnt dropped

1. You're probably off your rocker lol
2. The only surprise would be that they say we are getting JB and then cancel it in the future--but then again, that wouldn't really be a surprise to me LOL.

I've come to realize this... I blame Verizon, not even HTC anymore.

LOL and yeah I don't blame HTC for updates, I think their software is fine and all reports on the leak are good from what i've seen. I only blame them for not being able to make a phone with decent battery life :D

ICS was installed on my phone, now my battery can't hold a charge for more that 30 min and takes over 24 hrs to fully charge. Anyone experiencing this?

How was it installed? If it was through Root then you need to check in root section (or i can move this post there). If you used the RUU then I will just move this to its own support thread :)

BTW, I merged the OG ICS rumor thread into the one we have been using lately, you will notice a different OP and thread title because of it

I've been watching too many youtube videos. I don't even care about ICS anymore. I want Jelly Bean!

Great video of Google's Voice search just crushing Siri:
Siri vs Google Voice Search! - YouTube

If we're not going to get JB on the Rezound, I might have to make the switch to the Nexus. I'd rather stick with the Rezound though. You would think it wouldn't be that big of a deal since it is not as big of a jump as going to ICS from Gingerbread. Right?

I just rooted my Rez and cleared all the crap off of it and the thing works SO much better, even just using gingerbread with the Go Launcher, which has most of the features of ics anyway. Not sure how much I care about the ota ics anymore.

Same here. I was hesitant at first about 'rooting' my Rezound because I didn't want to brick the device. However I decided to take the plunge and it was the best decision I made. My Rezound feels and runs like a completely different beast. At this point it would be nice to get ICS - but I'm not overly concerned of when it will be released.

HTC and I had exchanged a couple of emails yesterday. They addressed three questions for me. The first and last questions were about the ICS upgrade to the Rezound and my wife's Rhyme.

HTC's answer to those questions makes perfect sense ("sense," no pun intended). I am in my 50's and used to write and develop software a long time ago, and from my experience HTC's answer to me is well reasoned, thus very believable. It also just kind of "fits" or "feels" better than all of the so called "reasons" that every one is speculating about, and guessing about in many forums. HTC's answer just "fits" and "feels" right. Here it is:
I can understand how important keeping your phone up to date can be quite important. I'd be glad to address your questions with you. For your first and third question, HTC does not announce dates for release of software due to the nature of the software development process. At any point in the software development cycle an situation may be encountered that requires anything from some minor additional rework to complete rewrites of the software base. Only after the final acceptance testing has been successfully completed will HTC release software. The normal time period between the final acceptance testing and release of software is about a week and often shorter than that.

You never know what bugs you are going to encounter, or at which point in testing you are going to encounter them. It is highly advisable to avoid committing to a certain date for a software release. Wasn't it Verizon, not HTC that was telling everyone that the Rezound would get ICS "soon", or in Q1 1012?

Also, as you weed out the early bugs, the later ones seem to get more and more difficult to find and squash. Sometimes squashing the final bugs will require the developer to troubleshoot at the machine code level. In other words the dev. has to chase around bugs in the processor's native machine language using an assembler, at best. Sometimes it involves working in pure binary machine code without the convenience of an assembler. No fun, and very slow work. I did that stuff long ago, and it can drive you nuts to work for a whole week to rewrite a routine that executes in a couple of milliseconds.

Thus, I think that HTC has a very good explanation for the delay. But don't give up hope, they WILL surprise us with it, probably sooner than later. It looks like they won't be influenced into rushing the software for anyone. They seem to be focused on getting it out bug free, not quickly, and I applaud their focus on bug free. They already know that lots of people are drooling and impatient over the ICS upgrade to the Rezound, and they know just how bad the backlash will be if they release a buggy upgrade.

Besides, my stock Rezound works flawlessly as is, so I am not particularly waiting for ICS to be released. I basically just poke around and look at these forums because my semi-retirement leaves me bored stiff at times. :D
