Help how do you stop the news feeds from coming in

Delete the news widget from your home screen.

If you want to be able to view feeds on demand use the News app. You can put a shortcut to the news app on your desktop.

Add the feeds you want to follow to the news app and then when you run it and select a feed to view you can read that feed.

I deleted the News widget but when I use Task Killer it shows that news was active Im new to android just got my Backflip today been a iphone user for 3 years

News runs as a service in the background. On my phone it has used 11 seconds of CPU time in the 11 minutes and 19 seconds since I restarted my phone.

If you aren't getting a bunch of notifications for news items then I wouldn't worry about it.

If you really want to kill it there are task killer apps that will run each time you boot your phone and kill tasks that you have selected. The task killer then runs in the background and kills the apps when they try to restart.

If you just wanted to stop getting constant updates from the news widget taking it off the home screen will do that.

I have a relatively new (Kitkat) Chinese clone device. I am not an expert android user. My phone has over the last months started making the "bah-ling" alert sound many times during the day. I could never get the screen opened fast enough to see what was causing it but after dealing with this for months, today I finally caught the culprit. Apparently there is a news crawler headline that overlays the top status bar and gives an alarm when a news feed item comes in. This happens 4-8 times per day as I can recall. I cannot say in how many ways I want to turn this off!

I went into settings and display and I don't see anything in any of the setting dealing with a news feed. I am wondering if one of my apps has created this problem? I have hundred or more installed so I can't really delete them one at a time. I read here where a "news widget" might be the problem and the only widget I can see is one that was installed automatically. It has a digital time display in large letters with the date in small text under it. The news feed I see actually overlays the small icons on the top of the menu which show wi-fi and cell tower strength and other status messages. This news feed is not a widget as I would understand them, where the widgets I know take up physical space on the screen and prohibit app launch icons from being in that spot.

Please help!
