Final Fantasy III (and buying it)

So Final Fantasy III came out a few days ago and I would really like to buy it but don't want to use a credit card to buy the app, especially since it's $15.99. Can I use a Visa Gift card to buy it or is that not possible because of it being international? If not, can I use paypal to get the app?

Yes. Visa gift cards work just like any other credit card. However, be aware there's an activation fee when you buy those types of gift cards.

I would gladly pay $15 for a great game on Android... but I despise JRPGs, especially Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy 7 is the one I particularly dislike, having played it and found it to be grossly underwhelming compared to the PC RPGs from the same time period.

I thought $6.99 was a lot for a few others but $16 no way. If Nova 2/3, Modern Combat, Madden 12 and others can be under $10 so can everything IMO.

$15.99 is a lot.

It's still a great game, though, and I also want to get it.
I just wish I could play a demo beforehand to see how it runs on my mobile...

I had no problem paying for FF3. It is a great game and worth every penny in my opinion. My only complaint is the network check, why the **** does this need an internet connection to play? So much for using it on the airplane.

That is absolutely what the network check is, but irritating DRM is exactly why people pirate games. Square has my money, but now I will think twice about giving them any more if they are going to handicap the way I can play it.

This is about to go off the rails so I will sate again that the game so far is great and if it weren't for the ridiculous DRM I would say worth every penny.

The problem is that the game is relatively expensive.
In a vaccum, 16$ isn't too much. But, if you compare it to most other Android games (including other AAA titles), it's much more.

Plenty of people (including myself) think $16 is perfectly acceptable for a quality game, and given that Final Fantasy III has hit over 50,000 downloads/purchases in less than a week, I'd say plenty of people didn't mind paying $16 for a solid title.

Sure, other titles like Mass Effect 3 and Backstab cost much less, but their ratings/scores are below 4. Final Fantasy III's rating is 4.6. That's a huge difference. I personally wouldn't bother with a game unless it earns at least a 4 rating.

I think the main factor that's causing me not to buy it isn't the price, but that i own it for my DS already. But i can agree with this statement. If they ever put final fantasy tactics...id buy that in a heartbeat.

IVe found the discover gift cards from rite-aid to be the best for online shopping, some of the other brands get blocked if there is a possible reason for future payments. [also you can use a CC to buy them, other are cash only to buy]

Will be trying out the walmart top up gift card soon with google to set up GF kids online, so they can buy online but be able to add money.

Just to be clear here, if you played "Final Fantasy III" on the SNES outside of Japan--this is not that game. (Unless you imported it from Japan of course.)

Final Fantasy III was never actually released outside of Japan until it was remade for the Nintendo DS in 2006. This Android game is a port of that DS remake.

The game that was released for the SNES as Final Fantasy III in North America was actually Japan's Final Fantasy VI, and all new remakes/ports/whatever of Final Fantasy games use that numbering.

I bought this game and am thoroughly addicted now. So is my wife who is "lovoing" me for getting this game on her phone as well.

I am 20 hours in and loving it. I am looking forward to beating this game a few times a few different ways and thee are MANY permutations thanks to the 23 jobs you have access to.

In my opinion, Final Fantasy 3 IS worth the $16 price tag for the following 5 reasons.

1.) VERY high quality RPG experience.

2.) AT WORST 40 hours of game play...if you are trying to do things the super hard way. If you do it the slow and steady way, 60-80 hours worth...the first time.

3.) The Jobs system means that you have 23 different ways per character for four characters to experience the game.

4.) NO IN APP PURCHASES!!!! You buy the whole game the first time and you play it as long as you want and can get every option.

5.) Finally, a game from square soft, which if we support will lead to more ports of square soft games. YAY!!!!!!
