Galaxy nexus banned from the us ?! WTH apple :(

news....

Try to buy a Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play store today and you're greeted with the "coming soon" message you see above, and we now officially know the reason why. The company has confirmed to ABC News that the smartphone has indeed been pulled as a result of Judge Lucy Koh's recent decision to not lift the injunction against the device. It's also confirmed, though, that it plans to resume sales of the device sometime next week, when it will be shipping with the new Jelly Bean operating system -- a change that Google says will address the issues in dispute.

I'm still a bit annoyed that apple went down this path - surely a sign that they know their 4S isn't competitive with the growth in popularity of the larger screens that have appeared since the end of last year. That and ICS is the first firmware that at least matches iOS, and if the jelly bean reviews are to believed, it'll be even smoother. Game on, Apple.

This block will be removed next week, around the same time as nexus gets the jb upgrade, I'd imagine 4S sales are already down as people hold off for the next iPhone. At $349 this is an incredible phone for the money, Apple should be worried. Their next phone needs to be excellent, or they'll get creamed.

I'm also annoyed, but right now I think Apple is more worried about the new iPhone, than the 4S. All these great Android phones are coming out and people are decided to give Android a try, and signing up for a two year contract with the One X or SGS3. That is Apples biggest weakness, with only one launch a year, the 6 months prior Android has a bunch of new phones while the latest iPhone is getting a little stale. Also while contracts are 2 years, upgrades are every 20-21 months, so for three months people have an upgrade burning in their pocket, and in our instant gratification world, many jump for a newly release android phone rather than wait 3 more months for an iPhone.

Well they have stated that quite clearly. And its not like they are without reason. Android is the biggest threat to their mobile devices.
Yeah,

"I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this." - Steve Jobs

For the record (and as a reference in case the ban goes into effect again) - even when the Galaxy Nexus was technically banned, it was still available to order from:

AmazonWireless.com (CDMZ VZ or CDMA Sprint versions)
The Verizon Wireless website (CDMA VZ)
The Sprint website (CDMA Sprint)
The Expansys-USA website (GSM-Unlocked from the UK I think)
Amazon.com from multiple third-party sellers [marked up slightly from the Play store price] (GSM Unlocked)

Oh well, I think the Galaxy Nexus ban might have caused more good than bad :D. Promotion by causing an uprising of #BoycottApple and then its still available.
