Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

Yeah, the only reason I did it as early as the 27th was to keep unlimited data. Phone will be delivered on the 11th.

i pre ordered on the 6th of last month and getting it delivered on the 9th(tomorrow) so if i do the math ordering 20+ days before others only gives me 2 day lead... sure its earlier but not by much

"2-day" shipping usually doesn't count the day the package is picked up. "Overnight" on the other hand, does.

So if my phone gets picked up tomorrow morning and I have "overnight" shipping does that mean I'd get it by end of the day monday?

Because lets say they shipped it this afternoon, over night would mean tomorrow morning correct?

I have to say that I'm coming from a broken down HTC incredible. That being said, It was very responsive and smooth. The size of the screen was awesome. Nice and bright.. My wife has a 4s, but she loved the weight and size of this phone. The iphone seemed like a rock compared to the S3. It also was very fast. I really liked it. I didn't use it for long, there was others that wanted to try it.

I can't wait for tomorrow...Listen to me, I'm freaking out over a phone...I gotta be outta my mind..

Bye Bye HTC incredible!!!

You know how those psychotherapists tell people with anxiety to "go to their happy place"?

Well, what you have to do is mentally go to the place you'll be 2 years from now when you are saying you're sick of the S3 and can't wait to get the new _______ . That way you won't care if you are holding the S3 yet or not. :D

Then when the FedEx truck arrives, you can mentally teleport back to 2012. :D

it means you get it Tuesday, it ships overnight from point A to point B and it gets delivered that morning

Because lets say they shipped it this afternoon, over night would mean tomorrow morning correct?

as for the 2nd part of your post if FedEx did ship on weekends (which i think they dont but i could be wrong) then hypothetically yes you would get it tomorrow.

All these questions about shipping. Do none of you ever buy stuff online and have it shipped to you? :D

Ordered 6/20, got my shipping email earlier today. CC charged, Fedex says "picked up" earlier today (7/8), Standard Overnight with estimated delivery on 7/10. Just another data point.

Figures that I had prematurely given up on getting my phone in a timely fashion and decided to plan a last minute family vacation this coming week. I won't even be here when the phone arrives

And explain this one! Both shipped on non business days. Note how hers is getting here 1 day after mine. Also, both came from same location. Chester PA, but mine went to Newark then here, while hers went to Memphis, which it left today. Fedex needs to put down the crack pipe.

Wife's phone, ordered 2 weeks after me.

I just noticed that my tracking info shows that it's going to require a signature. This could be interesting since I, you know, work during the day. It's saying delivery should be by 3 pm. I gotta try and find a way around that - I really hate when companies send stuff to me via FedEx - they're the only delivery service I ever have issues with.

I got mine on Friday, I left a note on the door with the tracking # and informed them to leave the package. As long as you have a signature and the tracking # they will leave it. I know this isn't a good idea in some places but I live in a nice area and also have security cameras so it wasn't a big deal for me.

Yes, but Sundays don't usually count, because even though it appears a few things did happen today, I don't think the whole FedEx system works 7 days a week. If this was Monday, then yes, you would likely get it Tuesday. Since it's Sunday, overnight will still mean Tuesday. If this was Friday, I think it then becomes an issue of whether or not the shipper requested Saturday Delivery in their "overnight" shipping of the item. If not, that means Monday again.

UPS and FedEx actually does have "Same Day" delivery on weekdays. But hold onto your wallet! It starts around $350 a package and goes up, last time I checked, and the package has to be in their possession early in the morning. So I've never used it. But I guess industries that need something crucial ASAP use it. The kinds of things that shut down whole plants until the problem is fixed.

So just to confirm, If I leave a note Fedex should leave it? Has anybody left a note and the fedex guy not leave it? I'll probably just work from home tomorrow. The email said the delivery could be as late as 7pm. WTF!

Well, I did read a post somewhere above (I just recently caught up reading this thread) that said if you live in an apartment building, and do the above with the note and all, they still might not leave the package. I also read at least 2 posts where packages were not left when signed notes were there requesting the package be left. I think it has a lot to do with whether the driver feels he can put it in a 'secure area' or not. If it is highly visible to passers-by then he might not. I suppose they don't want to get into the situation where the package gets stolen.

I believe you have the option of calling FedEx and asking them to hold a package or even deliver it on a different day. But some have said they won't let you just show up at the FedEx local terminal and pick it up before they have tried to deliver it at least once. It can't hurt to call them and ask. If they can hold it for you, then you can just go their after work and get it. I believe they are open late in the afternoon in most of those terminals to allow people to pick up deliveries that were not delivered. Maybe later, depending on your location.

I just found this on the FedEx website:

I won't be able to sign for my package, what can I do? For packages not requiring a signature for release, our drivers will leave the package at a recipient's door, or other secure location, if the driver believes it is reasonable to do so. If your package was shipped with the Indirect Signature Release option, you may leave a signed and dated handwritten note on the door instructing the driver to leave the package at your door.

When the driver is unable to leave your package, they will leave a door tag on your door, informing you of the delivery attempt. The door tag contains information that may offer you the option to sign the door tag and have the driver leave your package in a secure location on the next delivery attempt, typically the next business day.

If signing the door tag is not possible because the shipper has requested an in-person, direct signature, you may request your package be held for pickup at your nearby FedEx Office location. For FedEx Express

1 small bright side

Service type
FedEx 2Day Service -

Indirect Signature Required
: FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address; from a neighbor, building manager or someone at a neighboring address; or the recipient can also leave a FedEx Door Tag authorizing release of the package without anyone present.

- yeah indirect signature

New to the forum but figured you guys might be interested in this.

My ship date now shows 7/19 (up from 7/11). And after calling Verizon they said they are out of stock of SIM cards so they aren't sure when they will be shipping my phones.

Ugh! Wow, how the heck could that happen?? They have to know each phone needs one. I'll bet they had some arriving for 'just in time' delivery at their various shipping warehouses, and someone dropped the ball. Hopefully it won't be delayed long. :)

If we put together all these pieces of news regarding their problems releasing the S3 this sure seems like a botched up operation overall.
