GS3 Case discussion thread

Wrong. The box and behind the back cover clearly states that it's made in China. That's why I said that it was made there.

Benny

i guess they recently relocated their factories to china then. i found a website that says their phones are made in korea, and so does my vibrant

Will find out soon enough with my full Matte PhantomSkinz protector and Incipio Samsung Galaxy S III SILICRYLIC DualPro case....

Waiting for the protector to dry over night first....

Wish me luck :help:

did you do a full-body phantomskinz application or just the screen? id love to know if the incipio case fits over the whole thing... thanks

Pretty sure there were reports of different people receiving their GS3 from both plants at random (china and korea) so your both right...

Dont remember for sure where I read it but there is a good chance it was in this forums (more than likely in another carrier thread though and since vzw locked bl it stands to reason they may have just used a single plant for the locked ones)

I don't care if it has an "i" in the name

not only the name, but the ad as well as the website design rip straight from apple... thats hardcore man

uh. full matte means full-body ;) In my case (no pun intended), I am using a clear screen and a matte back.

alright, well just making sure. youll have pictures right :D

I bought this as a fun temporary case while I wait for the Otterbox Defender to come out. The blue S3 looks real good, but it won't stay that way with a cheap case.

Long shot but - can anyone help me find the Acase Superleggera PRO case from a source other than Amazon? It's stocked by ~8 different dealers but they're all on Amazon.

I'm in New Zealand and even though theres one seller that ships here shipping and handling is nearly 3 times the cost of the case. I've googled like mad and can't seem to find any other dealers.

I've found two cases so far that match the blue exactly, one online and one at Verizon. Here's the one from Verizon, a nice silicon case.

Very nice looking case. But that doesn't appear to be a silicone (Notice the "e") case. It looks like a TPU case. The silicone cases are softer, more stretchy and rubbery. I've never seen a glossy silicone case either. I know it sounds like I'm nit picking but there is a significant difference between the two materials when it comes to appearance and performance. When people are searching for a case and reading descriptions it's helpful to know the difference so you get what you want.:)

Greetings all,

I got my S3 on the 9th and put my otterbox commuter on it. Everything about it is great except for one thing.

The buttons (power, volume rocker) are annoyingly difficult to use. Its nothing that will make me take the case off the phone but I was wondering if anyone else if having this issue.

Also, has anyone had the commuter on their phone for a while? If so, has it broken in to become easier to use?

It said silicon on the box. Just repeating what the manufacturer called it.

I understand. Unfortunately it's really common to see the two used interchangeably when they really are different. I don't know enough about chemistry to know what really makes up TPU and Silicone and there may very well be some overlapping ingredients. I just know that what is usually referred to as a "Silicone case" is relatively soft and stretchy whereas the TPU cases are much more firm and not very stretchy at all. They are very flexible but they don't really stretch or have the softer rubber feel that silicone does.

If you're familiar with the silicone bakeware or oven mitts that are becoming more popular in the kitchen isle of stores you see what it feels like. I'm not trying to be critical of you. I'm trying to educate anyone reading this because it's a thread about cases and there are big differences between the two materials. As with the packaging on your case, the people selling them frequently don't even get it right.
