ICS is coming for the Samsung Galaxy SII Touch 4G!

I'm one of those girls who doesn't mind having old OS running on certain devices as long as it works. I still have a netbook running Windows XP. Granted it's not my favorite toy, but it still functions.

As sexy as the SG3 looks, I'm content to stay with my SG2 until next year. By then Sprint will have switched to LTE in my area and the upgrade will be wiser.

I did get ICS on my Asus Transformer 1 though. Looks nice and slick. And of course, all Android post Froyo is better than iOS.

Oh a lady ;)

Seriously though you are correct. I have run ics leaks since march and while its fun to play with a new os it really does not offer a much better experience. Im running gingerbread right now because everything just works right. Only 7% of android devices were on ics as of several weeks ago so apps are primarily designed around the older os and they run more stable.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I was really getting fed up with the glitches and spontaneous reboots and recently flashed the latest leaked ICS build and I feel like I got a new phone. Everything is much smoother and more intuitive and reliable. I'm loving it. Now if I could only get 4G in my area

Why would a Sprint person not call the phone by it's "SPRINT" proper name. Epic 4g Touch? Never heard of a Galaxy SII Touch 4G? I hope you are correct. ICS is long overdue for us....bring it!

Hey, I've never really known what to call this phone.... Galaxy SII or SG 4G
touch. Samsung Galaxy..... It is the longest name in the phone kingdom. I guess now I will just call it E4G. !:smokingsomb:

I upgraded from a Blackberry to a Samsung Galaxy IIS, so I am in love with this phone. However, I am beginning to think Android is just too fragmented of an OS. I do feel that I bought the best product at the time, a $699 retail phone, and now both Samsung and Sprint are focused on getting the next $699 customer, risking losing me to Apple or Microsoft, both of which very likely are doing the same thing to their customers.

In my experience, every phone manufacturer is always trying to get you to spend as much money as possible. It's why they put out better and better phones at least every year. Even Apple does this. If you want the latest and greatest at all times, be prepared to spend a lot of money. If you aren't willing to do that, then just upgrade every other year when you get the big discounts from the carriers and stop worrying about the latest and greatest. Especially if you like the phone you have. I love this phone and I'm not real worried about getting the GSIII. It helps that I don't really care for the look of it.

I've had ICS 4.0.4 for so long now that I guess I'm not feeling the urgency or hype that so many of you are. I'm not concerned with what my carrier (Sprint) does. As long as there's XDA I'm good.

You shouldn't have to hack a phone that's les than a year old (especially when you're signing 2 year contracts for it) in order to continue the software support.

You're not concerned a corporation you support for years via contract with your money does even when its openly manipulating both new and existing customers into buyimg some new shiny hunk of sh*t at the expense of cutting previous loyal customers off from support?

I shouldn't be suprised. Most people don't care what corps do until they become some sort of Rupert Murdoch clubbing a baby seal in their back yard. That's when we get worked up and march down the walls of our Facebook outraged at their injustice.

Sitting around complaining sure isn't going to change anything they do.

No one has to hack, but we do anyways. Lots of rooters never make it a few months before hacking anyways. I like to stick it to them by using my free wireless tethering that they want to charge an arm and a leg for. And skipping over the newest technology and costing them a 2 year contract/ phone purchase because I undermined their plans to lure me into buying their new phone by getting the software they didn't want me to have so I would buy the new phone. Sometimes you have to take your power into your own hands.

We bought the Epic Touch knowing with it's late release knowing it would be obsolete soon if not just for LTE sake. And such is the nature of the beast of technology.

Sprint is also now charging $11 for insurance instead of $7 ($528 over two years), and $150 for replacement phone instead of $100. Now that is a ripoff!!!!! They are doing everything they can to pass the buck of their MONSTROUS MISTAKE (WiMax) onto the consumer.

All of my contracts are up next year, if they keep this up, I'm out.

No you wont be. Every other network is almost double the price for half the freedom and features. When LTE finally drops on sprint there will be no reason to go and pay double for nothing.

Oh thanks, I'll make sure to check back for your approval when the time comes.

I buy phones off contract and have a 3rd line I pay for but don't need.

Having Sprint nickel and dime me everywhere else is not going to keep me around. Plus it's mostly a business deduction for me anyways.

If it was that easy, Sprint wouldn't have half the market share of AT&T and Verizon and dropping now would they? Conference calling is a chore for goodness sake (and I need that) and reception is spotty.
