And Mitt Picks...

Is it a coincidence that everyone is talking about this now and not Bain Capital? I would be shocked if the Republicans could stomach a pro choice candidate on the ticket even if it helped them win. Besides, I doubt she even wants the job. She doesn't seem like the campaign loving type. Plus, the VP has to be the attack dog. I'm calling BS on this. As far as the "love affair" goes, anybody remember Fred Thompson? Everyone wanted him until they got him. The right wing will never accept a pro choice, pro immigration candidate closely tied to Bush. I think this leak was just a big distraction, and it worked.

Because now they can spend unlimited funds and do it anonymously via 501(C)(4) fronts. Poor Nixon, he had to jump though hoops to get his slush fund for the plumbers, now it's legal.

They've always spent tons of money on Republican candidates. This isn't anything new around here.

You're telling me that Democrat billionaires don't do the same thing? Or does it just not matter? Or are these "slush funds" open only to Republicans and not anyone from the left? But is such behavior only evil when Republicans do it?

I didn't know there are any Democrat billionaires. I thought all of them are Republicans. Care to name any?

Spielberg jumps immediately to mind. I'm sure there are others in Hollywood.

Edit: I did a search on Google and there are several sites that list Democrat billionaires. I have no clue whether their lists are credible or not so I'm not going to link them lest I make a fool of myself. They seem credible, but I'm too lazy to vet them completely. In any case, it would seem logical that there would be Democrats who were billionaires. I don't see why not? There are Democrats who are shlepping burgers at McD's and there are Republicans who are schlepping burgers at McD's. I don't know why they would change at the higher tiers of society.

The Republicans always appear to be caught. Maybe the SC ruling that cash is speech will even things out.

Democratic billionaires spend their money trying to cure diseases and provide clean drinking water to the impoverished. Republican billionaires spend their money to buy politicians who will support policies that make it easier for them to make even more money. Yet the Republicans are perceived to be the "Christian" party. Ironic, isn't it?
Soros is really the only politically active billionaire I can think of on the Dems side, but he never asserted the power and control that the Koch bros wield over their minions.
Hollywood money is a drop in the bucket compared to "real" money. Much like professional athletes are rich, but the "real" money owns the team. Besides, for 99% of the Hollywood types politics is just a fashion accessory. They're not going to spend more than a token amount on it. And it usually does more harm than good for them to speak out for a candidate.

That's complete and total crap. You've bought into the rhetoric my friend.

Is the only thing you can contribute is ad hominem ? Don't believe being a Dittohead is classified as thinking for oneself.

Only a total fool would NOT agree with Mr. Limbaugh. His accuracy and track record speaks for itself. You might hate Rush, but you cannot call him a liar or say he misleads his "Dittoheads."

You do not listen to him so why comment on something you do not understand and you do know know anything about?

And what exactly is wrong with being a billionaire?

Nothing at all. It is certainly one of my goals.

Most poor people want to be rich. Heck, most people in general want to be rich. Some achieve their goal and many do not.

What I find interesting is when those "tax the rich" types finally make it, suddenly, they think we/they are paying too much in taxes.

Every rich person I know earned their money and they provide jobs. They pay too much in taxes--state and federal-- but still they pay. They largely support the 50% or so that pay ZERO federal tax.

They hate their money being wasted by a government hell bent on socialism and supporting the lazy Americans that want handouts.

So the rich are hammered by those folks that have never tried to make it on their own. Nothing wrong with being a millionaire, billionaire or trillionaire.

I did a quick search on those evil Koch brothers since they are apparently poster children for the evil billionaires. It was interesting to see what they do with their money in between twirling their mustaches and tying young women to train tracks. Besides using their ill gotten gains to forward political causes they believe in they have also done the following.

David Koch - Gave $100 mil to the New York State Theatre and $20 mil to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. His charitable foundation has donated over $600 mil to various hospitals, museums, the arts, educational foundations, etc.... since 2000.
Charles Koch - Since '04, has given $250 mil to various libertarian advocacy causes. Has also given to various scholarship funds. Has won awards for his philanthropy.
Bill Koch - Has donated to prevent the construction of a wind power project at Cape Cod.

Those horrible billionaires and their not giving to anything other than that which makes them more money.

Bernard Madoff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Madoff undertook charity work for the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation and made philanthropic gifts through the Madoff Family Foundation, a $19 million private foundation, which he managed along with his wife.[20] They donated money to hospitals and theaters.[

Something to strive for. They do make for a cute couple.
