I still bet we get the Incredible some what soon, VZW isn't going to want people to think about switching very long. They will want to get something out that will make people re-sign their contract. Well, hopefully they do this. I don't see how they could not though. Then again, it is Verizon Wireless.....

LOL yeah, why is Verizon like a slow cousin named Skippy?

Ok, got home went to gym and "frustrated" off 5 pounds. Hoped by some miracle, I'd come back to OMG they announced it. No such luck. Read the last few pages. Felt depressed. Then came to this realization. How does Verizon come away the big winner of CTIA.

Announce a phone comparable to the Evo.
But wait, it won't have 4G service so it's not going to win.

But...........

Verizon doesn't say look at this cool new phone, and in a few months, you can have it. Verizon says hey look at what we got, and it's coming your way.......and SOON.

So Verizon says, yeah Sprint's phone is nice, but look at our nifty phone, and look at its release date April 17th. Why wait till June, when you can have some HTC goodness in a couple weeks.

Confidence restored. Go Big Red. (Seriously don't let me down this time though)

As long as the Incredible comes out relatively soon, I'm still game because I'm not sure I want to leave Verizon. That being said, the EVO is tempting after watching the videos. Guaranteed high def recording AND hdmi out? Oh baby. And I was always turned off by the big screen and phone, but it doesn't look all that big in hand on the video. As I said before, something like this comes along and really takes the wind out of the sail for Verizon. I thought "fat chance" anyone pushes out greater than 5MP, but Sprint clearly went all out on this device. The attractive component to the EVO is that I work in the Baltimore area and we are a 4G market. Time to check the maps again. If Verizon, by chance, really does drag this out until May, I might really be hanging by a thread. You try not to get your hopes up, but I've been wanting a new phone since July/Aug last year and waiting on Verizon Android since October. I'm getting impatient and as much as I should temper my expectations, that Mar 27th date being thrown around has just made me more anxious. Release it NOW, Verizon.

i think it depends on the vote for best device if the embargoed device in there turns out to be the Evo then no they only have one.. i gathered from having two spots in their booth that said don't peek.. now i know that two Evos were put in those spots so now it doesn't look to good. the embargoed device being voted for best in the show. I thought it had to be the incredible since i believe sprint acknowledged the Evo/supersonic a longtime ago so would they really embargo it for the name? but my theory is getting less plausible by the minute :(

Why would they put up 2 boxes on there do not peek and then have the same product in them? Are they just playing with our minds here? They know alot of tech people really want the Incredible also. Could they have put both boxes up so everyone is more excited to see another new product under box number two after they showed off box number one? Then thought it would be funny to put the Evo under both boxes to break our hearts just to make us sweat another day and launch the Incredible tomorrow? They have been accused of leaking info to get peoples attention just my 2 cents I hope we here about the Incredible tomorrow but if not the wait will continue.... I will just have to join AA and IA

If there is no annoucement for the Incredible or Nexus One for Verizon at CTIA then my wife and I will have two new iPhones on Friday. My contract ran out in December and I am tired of waiting for Verizon to come out with one of these phones. I'm sorry Verizon, but your about to loose two paying customers (which I know don't mean a damn thing to you).

I hate to say this because I want an Incredible announcement just as much as the next person. I hope I am wrong, but common sense dictates to me that there is no way that HTC would have given this much fanfare for the EVO without having submitted it for the CTIA award. It's not listed as one of the devices nominated, so I'm guessing that this time tomorrow we are all going to be disappointed knowing the EVO was in fact the embargoed device.

Haha, that would be evil. But I'm sure the conference was relatively crowded, and that device was certainly one of the highlights. I'm sure even with 2 boxes, the number of people crowding around them made it difficult to get a peak at the device.

I think it was discussed previously that there are two different "types" of voting. One is internal and lists a "Product Embargoed", HTC item in the phone category. The other is a public contest, and there are no HTC phones listed.

The rules are below:

What if my product has not launched yet and is embargoed until a certain date?
If your product is embargoed, you may indicate that on the online submission form as well as the date until which the product is embargoed. Your entry will not appear on the public site until that embargo date has passed. Also, depending on the embargo expiration date, your entry may be excluded from onsite signage. Your product will still be viewed and evaluated by the panel of judges.

This strikes fear in my heart:
Some guy complains to @VZWOffers that he's been waiting all day for the Nexus One announcment (yeah dude, cue the violin — we've been waiting much longer for this phone) and @VZWOffers tweets back this:
@JustOzzie We do have a great phone lineup for you this summer. Don't go too far Osvaldo :)

This. Summer. And that damn little smiley, all smug and mocking. This better just be the Nexus One and not the Incredible, or I'm saying the hell with Verizon and just waiting for the EVO.

So how can an embargoed HTC device win a reward that is suppose to be presented tomorrow? How would it get any votes

According to the rules that were just posted, the judges still get to vote on it before it is revealed.... So it would make since that this would be the Incredible , not the EVO. I say that because in the hands-on video with the evo, they talk about how it is not the final rom and such with the software.

I live in the middle of Atlanta. ATT works fine here. I could understand if I lived out somewhere where I needed Verizon. We want internet phones really bad, so tired of waiting and waiting while rumors swarm. At least ATT can bring the goods with the iPhone instead of Verizon having nothing but a bunch of damn rumors. What the hell are their execs really thinking? I guess they loose touch with the consumer when they get the power.

Just because the first day that CTIA is over doesn't mean that the Incredible is over too. We've all been so patient for quite a while now, getting small glimpses of hope and light at the end of the tunnel here and there that have kept us hanging on for so long, don't give up now. For one, CTIA is still going on all day tomorrow, so who knows what may come out of it. The second day of CES held plenty of news for consumer electronics, so don't give up yet, we have come a long way. For two, in the grand scheme of things, what is the difference between an announcement today vs. an announcement tomorrow? Although it may mean the world to us, to large corporations like this, one day, even two days is nothing.

But I'll tell you what, if this week ends and there is not any sign of the Incredible, then it is a whole new ball game....

So I got bored and went to watch some NIT hoops. Saw at least 3 commercials for the Droid. I don't think verizon would still be dumping millions into advertising their "flagship" phone if a new one was coming out in the next couple days, weeks or perhaps months
You know what.. I live near San Francisco (big city - lots of tech people here), and work in San Francisco. Everyday that I drive into the city, I see 3 huge Droid billboards - every bus still has Droid ads on the side of them (both in SF, and in the surrounding areas around my city) and I also am still seeing Droid commercials. It almost seems like VZW is not ready to give up on riding the Droid until the wheels fall off.
