GOOD NEWS people.

So i was down and out like all everyone else here and i posted about verizon's EPIC FAIL on facebook. An old high school buddy, whom i forgot worked for verizon asked why. I explained and all he said "incredible will be shown tomorrow"

I didn't go looking or asking for - so I'd take it a little more serious then some of the other stuff.

At least anyone reading this may sleep a little easier tonight!

I doubt all of us chipping in $20 would cover the research and development for the new phone. I would guess that VZW pays millions to license HTC phones.

Well, seriously how much R&D would be neccessary, most of what we want is already done, next we are not trying to build for the dumb users so it's not like they have to see if user would like how it looks and lastly money talks, how many people are on this forum and others like it.

I believe he says he's guessing on the 4/1 release date, but there's a countdown on the BOGO sale on VZW website which ends with the March calendar.

Well, seriously how much R&D would be neccessary, most of what we want is already done, next we are not trying to build for the dumb users so it's not like they have to see if user would like how it looks and lastly money talks, how many people are on this forum and others like it.

HTC isn't gonna just give us their engineering research that they've already completed. Just like I'm sure they use much of the same technology between the Evo and the Incredible, but they're gonna charge both Verizon and Sprint to license their technology.


Point being, you're living in a dream world if you think this would ever actually happen. Open Source software and Open Source hardware are much different beasts.

NO, that's why the idea is groundbreaking, but if you think about it their is one, Saygus (the V-phone). That company is owned by a guy that had a dream of video chat and now his phone is a reality.

I agree. Also, think about the production costs associated with the limited number (compared to a carrier release) that would be required. Those things would cost a boat load of money.

I would pay $1000 for a phone that I helped create, but even if 10,000 users on here agreed, that still probably isn't enough to go through the process =P

Tough day indeed, buddy. Huge range of emotions. Frustrated, angry, optimistic, tense - you name it. Hard to believe that this phone can have such an effect on me! But I'm sure that we'll all be back in the dugout bright and early tomorrow morning waiting for that first pitch! Hope you - and everyone else here - is hangin' tough as well!

Never said it would be easy, never said it would be cheap, I never even said it could be done but honestly does anyone hear know? Did anyone ask? I am just making a statement, because I am tired of this bull, all we do is wait and wait for Verizon or some other company to decide what and when we want something, and we just go for the ride and hand them our money. I am just saying that anything is possible but not if you don't try, if anyone on here is a pissed off as I am, why wouldn't you.

twice as expensive? WTF are you talking about? Sprint simply everything is 99$ single/$190 family. Verizon cant even come close to that. if you want mobile to mobile and 450/1500 minutes to landlines with nights and weekends, it is $69 single/ $130 family. Sprint has never looked better! Verizon is about to get a reality check.

I don't need everything. I have a family plan on AT&T with 550 minutes and we always have left over. We only really use mobile to mobile. The 550 minute family plan on AT&T is $60 and I get a 20% discount making it $48 for the family (then add $30 for data on 1 phone).
With Verizon the cheapest is 700 minutes for $70, I still get a 20% discount for $56 for the family. A heck of a lot cheaper than $130 or $190.

I bet most folks don't use enough minutes to justify an everything plan. Its just a gimmick to convince you to move to a higher price plan. Having any SMS is even a bigger gimmick. Can use AIM or other apps to do SMS over the internet for free.

Today was only the first day of CTIA. Honestly, I doubted they would come out on the first day. That is unoriginal. Third day seems more likely to me. Still no idea when theyll launch it though.

man, the one day i could have been in front of my computer to see/read about the announcement and nothing happens! i froze up my xv6800 a couple of times trying to keep up with this thread while playing in a golf tourney.

tomorrow, back to work so i wont be able to check til lunch! grrrr!

at least the EVO didn't go to ATT. for some reason i can live with it being a sprint phone.

They would just make it a higher price. Like buying a computer and car the way you like it. Sounds like a good idea to me. I would think this would keep cost down because they are not sending out a bunch of phones that we don't want. They could have different screens, cases, buttons, cdma, sim card, worldphone, fm radio, and etc.

Just look at the new site from HTC/LetsTalk. What will stop HTC from doing this in the future with the open source.

Yeah, I haven't even begun to lose faith. The phone exists, and IMHO, is too far along in development to be shelved, or pushed back for a few months. I think that, with or without an announcement at CTIA, this phone is still going to be out by the end of April, and probably sooner. Granted, an announcement would make us all feel better; the good news is that you get to wait for this beast in one of the most beautiful places in the country!

As for me, I plan on being just as unproductive at work tomorrow as I was today

Even the unsubsidized price is still a price driven down by a contract Verizon has with HTC. Otherwise, they would be sold as unlocked phones that you could put on Sprint or Verizon, but that's not allowed because Verizon has paid HTC to produce the phones.
