Guys,

I don't believe the new cwm 6.0.0.1 is quite ready for prime time. I don't know about other devices but it didn't work on mine. I did a nandroid and tried to restore it. There was an error and I bricked at the boot logo. Fortunately, I had a nandroid made through the previous cwm. I flashed the old (working) recovery through fastboot and am restoring the nandroid now. No muss, no fuss.

I am concerned about less savvy root users, so I am putting out this warning. Don't flash the new cwm recovery on the gnex. My experience shows that it just doesn't work.

Steven

Didn't know there was a new one out... Will test it out and see thanks S !

Just have a regular nandroid ready as well as a regular cwm image file that you can flash over to recovery via fastboot, if you plan to try to do a restore of a nandroid created from the new cwm.

yeah i don't plan on giving it a try really. TWRP all the way.

Hey Trophy, by the way, I'm changing my AFV app to know how to validate/verify TWRP Nandroid backups just like it can for CWM Nandroid backups...(TWRP creates a .md5 file for each .win file that is created vs. a single nandroid.md5 file).

Hope to release the new version very soon :).

Just loaded up 6.0 Touch with JB 3.6. Restoring apps now. Everything seemed to work out fine (did an entire wipe). Once I'm set up, I'll try restoring a Nandroid and see what happens.
Probably should have looked here before flashing the new CWM, but I'm usually the risk taker anyway.

Well, 3.6 didn't want to restore any apps. Going to reinstall. Restored my backup I made with 6.0 and ended up with no softkeys or notification bar. :(
I'll give it another shot before trying TWRP.

Looks like Koush agreed. It's been replaced by version 6.0.0.4 now. I will run it through the ringer and report back.

I'd like to look into RM and tell you which one I'm on, but each time I click on the app drawer, I get 0 apps. Ugh, two unsuccessful installs of 3.6. Not sure if it's the new recovery or what.

Edit: Going to restore. I'm on 6.0.0.4 (Touch version).

2nd Edit: I don't recommend anyone use this. I'm trying to find a nandroid I can restore that works. My latest has no notification bar or softkeys. Hoping to try an older one.

I am experiencing similar results. I made a nand backup of my current configuration (JB 3.6), then wiped the phone and clean installed JB 3.5 which went ok. I then nand restored to 3.6 and there was a strange new option in recovery after the restore process completed. Something like..."your new rom may replace cwm with the stock recovery". Then it gave some option to flash recovery. I wasn't sure what it was so I just used the "go back" option and it automatically rebooted me to system...aaaaand I've been on the boot animation for the last 10 minutes now. Going to pull the battery and retry, if not I'll reflash a JB rom from scratch. Will keep the thread updated but until then

I agree with Steven/Dread. Don't use the 6.x versions of cwm at this time.

Definitely good to know. Thanks for the heads up.

Still running 5.8.0.2 here.... but TWRP is really starting to look appealing. I like CWM and bought the full version of ROM Manager, and Touch Recovery since Koush has done such great work all this time. I've been hesitant to try TWRP mostly because I paid for CWM only a few months ago, but also because of the lack of cross-compatibility of NANDroid backups.

Guys, I don't think 6.x cwm is restoring data/data. This may be why dread is not able to access his apps. Are you using a launcher by any chance dread?

Yep, I had to manually download all my apps as Google didn't restore (I don't use TiBa). Loaded up Nova, and since then, no apps in the app drawer (though still accessible through Settings - Apps).
