Help Stock alarm clock and default ring tone

Is there a way to change the default alarm tone for the stock S3 alarm clock?
I change it for each alarm, but can't find a way to make it the new default alarm tone.

Yes go into your app listing and start the app named CLOCK.

Press the + key to tell it to set an alarm or go into an existing alarm you have set up already to open it.

You can adjust the alarm type and the alarm tone. It will accept all kings of tones from stock ones to additional ones you add.

I personally like the briefing one which tells you some basic weather, appointments for the day and news then switches to your melody of choice.

I also like the smart alarm which plays quiet music before your alarm goes off.

I think he was asking if you can make a certain tone to set as "system default" so you dont have to go in and change your sound everytime. I havent tried so im not sure.

Thanks for checking. Mine does not do that, it always reverts back to the system default (which is "walk in the forrest alarm") and not the last one I set.

Your problem might be that you still have "smart alarm" on, which starts softly playing the "walk in the forest" tone, louder and louder, until the time for the alarm goes off, and then it will switch to the tone you chose.

You have to turn "smart alarm" off.

Thanks, that's a very good thought, but Smart Alarm is already turned off...

Thanks, that's what I'm doing now. You haven't been able to change the default either?

Nope, it still thinks I really like to use that forest tone!

is there any way to set s song for an alarm??...how would you dl a song and than set it to your alarm?

You download the song or transfer it to your phone's memory. When you select the sound on the alarm choose "go to my files" and navigate to the folder that has the song you want. click the circle next to the song you want as your alarm sound then choose "done" in the upper right corner. Just make sure you save the actual alarm after all that.

And worse, if I set an alarm using Google Voice Search (the built-in search), it defers to the walk in the forest tone. If I open the alarm and manually change it to a louder tone, it changes it back to the forest tone.

Not well thought out.

I find this frustrating also. The forest tone isn't loud enough for me and it's kind of a hassle to have to change it every time.

Tho only work-around I found is to leave a couple of alarms there all the time (don't delete them when they're done), set to my downloaded alarm sound of choice.

Then when I need an alarm, I just change one of them.

I'm a bit confused: Why don't you guys just change the default sound for the specific alarm in the Clock application?

Changing it is pretty obvious, but in case the difficulty you report comes from the fact you haven't been able to do this, then allow me to explain:

-Open the Clock application.
-Choose the Alarm tab, on top.
-Select the alarm you want to modify
-Scroll (if necessary) to lower part of the specific alarm window that opened after the previous step.
-Press the grey band that reads More
-Scroll further down (if necessary)
-Press Alarm tone
-Change the sound of your alarm.

You can add your own selections to this list by placing the desired sound files in the Alarms folder, in your phone storage (usually, the very first folder you can see with the My Files app, under sdcard0)

Have you managed to get anywhere with this Ron?

I know exactly where you are coming from and your frustrations. It's caught me out a couple of times and while I may be able to adapt to a different (more complicated) way of working, I would rather adapt my tools to suit me.

I did find a workaround, as mentioned on Aug 15. But I've since downloaded a different alarm clock (Gentle Alarm), which allows me to set a default alarm sound. And, as a bonus, I can use Google Voice Search to set an alarm and it uses the default sound I chose.

Thanks, I'll give that one a try.

I do generally end up with a few alarms anyway but don't like getting caught out if I want to add another one ad hoc for whatever reason. Definitely an improvement needed in the original app IMO
