On Select your province | TELUS Mobility if you go to support and click on software updates it say there is an update for Samsung Galaxy Note but I'm not sure how to get it. If I try and do it through the software update feature of the phone it says no update available, and if I try through kies it says my device is not upgradable through kies. Has anyone on Telus been able to get this update?

ISC installed without a hitch.
The NOTE lost sync with my two vehicles' BT so I had to reconnect. No big deal.
Trouble is my vehicles cannot seem to download my contacts from the Note and it kept saying downloading contacts.
Before ISC I was able to download all my contacts.

Any one else have this issue?

A nice improvement is deleting emails is now instant.
Before you have to confirm you want to delete so it was an addition step which got irritating when you have to delete a bunch of spam emails daily.

Anyone has a solution to prevent spam emails from getting through?
I set my Rogers Yahoo email options to delete spams immediately so they do not show up on the Web but they still get pushed through to the Android email app!

Another app that was included in the original OS was Google Traffic which in now gone.
I use this daily to check the traffic congestion.
I now have to use Google Map which showed the immediate vicinity then I can zoom out to see the other areas.
This is not as convenient as the original Traffic app.
I'll check to see if it's available for download.

Overall ICS is an improvement over Ginger bread.

I just finished updating. I'm now in the process of restoring/syncing my data/apps.

I did a hard wipe, updated OS and followed it up with another hard wipe. If it's OS related, I prefer to do a clean install. This should hopefully keep bugs to a minimum. I'll see how it goes when I'm back up and running.

Noticed it's ICS 4.0.4. So I guess that was the delay for the update?

Got it updated to ICS today. Overall nice and good.

But does anyone have this problem with the caller ringtone which is muted for a second when a call comes in and turns on all of a sudden. Was not there in Gingerbread.

Please advice if anyone has any solution to it.

Thanks

Does the same thing on mine, even after a factory reset. The first ring is on very low volume and then its loud.

Took it to Telus regarding the ringtone problem after the update. No luck. The lady over there said that she never got any complaints like this from anyone and if you want she could ship it to the company, which would result in either a downgrade to GB or no repairs or maybe Samsung would release an update on this. Well she was not at all sure what to respond she had a lot of "if's" in her response.

Just want to notify everyone.

Thanks

Typical Telus response. I took my wifes lg shine in to get fixed after a bad gingerbread update and had to send it away three times before they replaced it.

They actually told me that they have to send a phone away three times before they would replace it and for me that took two months.

I'm on Rogers and my Note exhibits the same behaviour. It will just play low for the breif second, then shoot up. It's most likely a software issue and nothing wrong with the hardware. It's probably programmed to handle the transitioning volume output in that manner. I remember there were complaints of low volume rings with GB, so I guess they 'tweaked' it with ICS?

+1.
My Telus Note behaves the same way.
But when connected to my OEM BT in my vehicles the ring tone is immediate when played through my car speakers even though I can hear the initial low volume on the Note.

I've learnt to put up with it when I'm using it outside my vehicles.
To me it's a minor flaw when the rest of the Note features are excellent.
