Help Audio port problem

I use my Droid 3 to listen to music while I work. It worked just fine the other day, but yesterday it wouldn't work at all. Any ideas or suggestions?

what style headphones are you using? it is possible if the headphones are old they may not function like they once used to, if they are off-brand you may hear interference, i noticed this with my galaxy nexus, when i had the headphones that came with the phone, it worked great, when i used off brand however, the slightest move they would get interference. so i use bluetooth now and love it

Oh this is a thorn in my side and hate Motorola for it. The audio ports in Motorola Droids keep failing on me after a few months. Droid 1, after a few months the port would crackle with my headsets. Then eventually would stop hearing unless I jiggled the wires. Eventually I would lose 90% of the port's functionality. Same thing happened on my Droid 3. Droid 3 lasted even less even though I was more careful with my headsets. I use good (expensive) Bose headsets. I would listen while I walk, connect to car's Aux port, or sit in bed. Not a hell of a lot of plugging in and out acually! Yet these jacks go bad fast! By brother abuses his jack on his iPhones and gets ZERO problems (all three iphones).
Thank goodness my car has bluetooth audio and I can listen to my stuff that way. My droid 3 port is utterly useless now.

I have a very very bad experience with Motorola headphone jacks. Not to mention the voice commands suck on Motorola, but that's another topic.

Oh this is a thorn in my side and hate Motorola for it.

+1 on this. My D1 had its jack go bad after 2 months but the replacement *did* last until the digitizer went out on it and it would no longer react to touch on the screen. Now my D3 is wigging out once in a while and instead of just crackling, it starts playing out of the D3 speaker until I mess with the plug.

I used to think Motorola had the better hardware, but I'm not so sure on that anymore.
