GS3 Case discussion thread

I would contact Rearth. They have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee policy. If you don't like the product they will give you a full refund.

I just realized that I bought the Clear plus on Amazon. I didn't know it was the same one that came bundled with the case. I really like it. It's a great screen protector. I haven't had any issues with it. It has extremely solid reviews on Amazon. Its almost a perfect rating with over a 100 reviews. Someone must have been defective or wrong with the install.

The positive reviews were the reason I went with the bundle kit than simply the case by itself. Saved a few bucks and got free shipping. Would have had to pay for shipping on amazon since I don't have a prime account. The bundle only comes with one screen protector though, so it probably evens out. Glad you like it. I'm impressed as well. Hopefully, I still will be in a few days.

I have had it longer then a week and its been great. Very smooth and good with smudges. Its also very clear. I think this Benny person has extremely wet and sweaty hands and is experiencing extreme smudges. Haha. Cause my protector is generally clean most of the day.

If you want to insult me by saying that I'm more sensitive than your 16 year-old daughter, that's fine. Doesn't bother me. But please don't insult my friends. I never said they'd make me feel embarrassed. I said I'd be embarrassed to show it off to them in what I think is an ugly case. Just like I'd also be embarrassed to drive a pink car in front of them, or wear skinny jeans while hanging out with them -- simply because I find it embarrassing. Call me vain if you want. Heck, I think you have to be a little to go with a case like this. But it says nothing about them. So let's leave my friends out of this, okay?

As for the screen protector, I've had it for over a day and it doesn't pick up finger prints any more than it did when I first got it. But, hey, maybe over the next several it'll do exactly what you said it would do. That's why I said I'd give it a few days.

And just to stay on topic, the longer I have the Ringke Slim case, the more I love the way it looks and feels. I'm obviously willing to sacrifice a little protection for what I feel are better aesthetics. In case anyone else is too, this is the slim case to get in my opinion.

I laugh that you are seriously thinking the guy is "bringing your friends into it"

You guys are talking about freakin plastic phone cases. Why you're each arguing about the merits of your own choice is beyond me. Isn't this America - where one guy is free to use a TPU-thong on his phone while another guy can use a TPU bulletproof kevlar vest covered by a TPU winter parka? Who gives a hoot?

This thread should be to report on various cases, like mini reviews, so that others who haven't bought yet can get a sense of what's out there.

Ok I'll head to Verizon to check it out (then buy it off Ebay) ;)

Actually I changed my mind and ordered the Diztronic tonight. I'll let ya'll know what I think when I get it. The black version had like 65 5-star reviews on Amazon and virtually nothing less. I also like that it's matte. I plan to put it on the phone then take it into a Verizon store so I can really see the difference.

One difference I did notice by comparing the pix on the screen is that the Verizon case covers up the volume and power switches with TPU, while the Diz just has cutouts. The Verizon probably wins on that metric for the extra protection.

I'm not a big fan of hard cases...from my experience from drops they don't protect against vibration or shock well at all. I'm also not a fan of the foam like cases...as they get worn very quickly, and attract dirt.

What I am a big fan tho, are these gel cases. They are inexpensive, are great on vibration or shock, handle wear very well, easy to clean, and are nice to hold. Easy to put on...and stays on.

Here are a few pics of the one I have and a amazon link below of where I bought it.

I wasn't attempting to insult you or your friends. You shouldn't take offense to anything that I said since no offense was intended. Sorry that you seemed to miss my point. Good luck with that case. Glad you like it.

A week? Well, that's encouraging. What do you think of the slim case after having it for a little while? I think it's great so far. My only complaint is that it's pretty tough to get the phone out of the case. Fortunately, I really have no need to take the case. The matted material has the same feel as the back of my droid 3 and rezound, which I like as well.

Thanks. This is exactly what I'm looking for. That looks fantastic, just like I hoped. Got one on order now

I wonder if the metal has any negative effect at all on the phone's reception. I can't afford to lose any reception at all with mine. I realize that the metal is only around the edge but as far as I know the antennas are too.

It would be really helpful if anyone who has one like this could check signal strength with the "Case" on and off. Settings>About Device>Status>Signal Strength. Thanks.

I am looking for a leather holster (belt clip - vertical or swivel) that uses a magnetic closure, not Velcro. The one I have from Verizon for my Razr fits, but the magnets are causing the S3 to reboot like crazy....any suggestions?

How about a Fortte case? My wife has had one on her Droid X for a year and a half and it's still going strong. I haven't tried or even seen in person the one for the Galaxy S III so I can't vouch for it, but it might fit your needs.

I'm curious about that as well but I took the chance and put in my order. I'll post something about the signal strength and call quality when ever it arrives. Hopefully soon. I'm ready for it now

This is the one I finally got. I needed something I could take off easily for the dock and it just looked so cool. But it's even better in person. The texture is outstanding to touch and provides the perfect amount of grip.

Nice looking case if impact protection isn't a high priority. Unusual finish and color. I went to the website and the written description is obviously written by someone with English as a distant second language...Bordering on random word generation. :D Too bad they don't make the same thing that covers all four edges of the phone. I don't drop my phone very often but it does happen occasionally and I just don't want to risk it. Most of my cases (I have lots!) are made from TPU and they are really easy to slip on and off. Since the one you have is a one piece hard case maybe that's why they don't cover the top and bottom of the phone. Maybe it would be too hard to install/remove without it being a two piece case.

I have several TPU cases, but they are way to difficult to slide on and off multiple times a day. I normally go naked but wanted *some* protection. There's a good chance that in a fall, the phone will hit a corner rather than dead on in the center if it falls that way. Most other ways it can fall will be protected somewhat by the shell. It's not really a case.

Has anyone found any cases that will fit extended battery covers' backs??? With all the different extended batteries out there figured someone would have scratched into this available market, but can't find not a one.....

I'm sorry I can't give you a link but I have seen one on eBay. Several seeks ago I saw an item description saying extended battery, phone back and case. I didn't look at it but I did see the description. Keep looking and good luck! At least you know one exists.

The case is great. Much better then my slim case from my Thunderbolt. Its definitively a little challenge to get on and off. Even more when you try to take it off for the first time. But you learn the tricks and its not to bad.

I am all about slim light cases. I like seeing on here what other slim cases are being bought. I am just tired of people telling us "yea that's a nice case, but its lousy in protection". When I decide to buy a slim case I obviously know its not the best for protection. I don't need to hear it over and over. Its obvious I understand the trade offs.

Two words - Swype Beta

Holy F-n he!!

You are totally right

I didn't get Swype Beta just because I was in a hurry and didn't want to go through the process of registering etc. So I did the free trial of SWIFTKEY 3.

As I said, Holy F-n he!! what an awesome keyboard. Hard to believe the Samsung keyboard SUCKS THAT BAD when there is something like this out there. I can mash my thumbs faster than I do on my Blackberry when I'm banging out emails, and jibberish shows up on the screen but as soon as I hit Spacebar it magically turns into the word I was trying to type! (I know you guys know this...but it's still amazing to me).

I can actually SEND EMAILS now on my phone without taking 2 minutes to compose something that doesn't make me look like an illiterate hick!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now I am not a fan of the "swyping" but if you tell me that the Swype keyboard is also good at predictive like Swiftkey then I'm in. I have NEVER YET paid for ANY APP....in 2 years of ownership......but I'd easily pay 4 bucks for a permanent SWIFTKEY.
