Root Best PC app for managing/editing rooted phone?

Hi,
I rooted my phone but have not installed a custom ROM. I'm looking for a PC application that can view/manage/edit the files and databases on my phone.

I downloaded Android Commander and it looked very promising. However, it only showed me the first level of folders in the root directory. It didn't read most of the subfolders (e.g., /data). When I searched for a solution, I found that the website and forums were down. I was later told that I probably need a fully rooted phone, which apparently I don't have.

I did like the ability to take screenshots -- must nicer than any of the phone apps I've found so far.

However, after messing with it for a little while, my whole screen froze. After I did a forced shutdown on my PC, it wouldn't reboot. I had to do a system restore to a previous version.

When I tried to run Android Commander again, it was gone. I had restored to the point before I had downloaded it, apparently. When I tried to redownload, Norton Security was telling me it might not be safe. Also, the website and forums were still down.

So, is there anything out there that has a similar functionality (but is "safe"?) Do I need to have a "fully rooted" phone? If I do, how do I get there? Thanks for any suggestions.

I guess the first thing to say is that if you are going to try to use a microsoft or apple PC to mange a linux phone, I can't ever imagine that working out so well. The data files in the sdcard can be seen android managed through explorer as long as the drivers are set up correctly, but that is about the extent of it. You may want to take a look at Keis Air if that is compatable with your phone, it is about the best I have seen for files management. You can definately take screen shots with apps through. For example cm9 ROM android some GB ROMs have it built in through hitting the power button, or MIUI has it through the toggle window on the notification bar.

I think I probably wasn't clear about what I'm looking for. I'm not really trying to manage my phone from my PC, but just browse and edit some of the database files in the /data folders, similar to the way the Android app "Root Explorer" does it. It's too difficult doing it on the phone.

What I liked about the screenshots that I took with Android Commander was being able to do it directly on the PC so I didn't have to transfer them from my phone. Also they were very clear. I tried some of the screenshot apps, and they all involved shaking the phone to activate and it was hard to get decent screenshots of screens that have animations.
