Google Now. What's the point?

I want to get the most of it but I don't know what can be done. My phones running gingerbread so I don't think gnow is benifiting from it. Does all Google searches benifit it? Or just the ones I make on the nexus?

I've had searches done while logged into my Chrome browser on my work desktop show up as tiles in Google Now when I got onto my phone later. Two were locations which brought up traffic tiles and two were just general searches which brought up just tiles with those search terms in them.

I thought that was cool. It figured out where home was and told me how log it would take to get there

My personal guess is that it'll get better the more it learns from my habits & trends. I'm intentionally using FoxFi to keep my Nexus online when I go to/from work each day, and often leave it online while @ work as well.

Why does it show me cards for stupid baseball games when I hate baseball! Yet when I ask it what Team USA is doing in basketball it gives me a google search. I just want to draw a sad face primarily because I hate baseball and I still get to see it and get notifications about it

You can disable Sports (or other types) of updates if you would like, as well as choose the teams you wish to appear. This is done under settings on Google Now (pull up Google Now, put away the keyboard, and click the three squares at the bottom right).

It won't let me edit teams in sports. So far Google now is doing nothing for me. I don't understand it.

The best place to start is to simply try to use all of the specific commands by looking at them on page 36 of the Guidebook.

If you make a conscious effort to use all of the commands until you have them all memorized, Google will help remove all of the guess work over time in terms of travel and information you frequently search for most. That is the whole point of it, to have the information most important to you readily available at all times so that it requires less effort on your part. I can't wait to start using it as much as possible to where it becomes second nature for me. If you do it enough, and as Google adds more cards later on, you will have to make use of Google searches even less as it will pretty much already be done for you.

I think Google now is going to grow and really shine. But it will probably become more evident on a phone with constant data. One nice insight was a few days ago when I had dinner plans scheduled on my calendar. About 55 minutes before dinner I got a notification to start driving. It had calculated the drive with traffic conditions and my appointed time.

I can't see anything useful from Google Now myself. All it ever shows me is the weather where I am. That's it. For 2-3 days in a row I did searches for Phillies scores. It still does not show me the score of the Phillies game when I open it. It still shows just the weather. I'm not convinced it's useful.

Go to your Google Account Dashboard.

Click Manage Account

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Go To Web History"

Turn on Web History.

Done. You will then start seeing results for your favorite sports teams after doing a few searches and will also be able to edit them.
