Why does a 7-inch tablet at half the price blow this one away, but then lose out in the long run?

What makes the Nexus 7 special?

The fact that the screen doesn't have backlight bleed even close to the Toshiba.
jellybean featuring project butter makes the overall usage way smoother and stutter-free.
Overall performance is on-par or better.

-all at half the price.

EDIT

I'm actually going to give this one another go at the urging of some close advisers.

Here's a good one: I'm keeping the Toshiba.

Why? Because I broke it out of the box and gave it another go.
Sure it isn't everything the Nexus 7 is, but it IS several thing that the Nexus 7 ISN'T, so go figure the thought processes of an old geek. :p

EDIT

Besides, there has to be at least ONE person to stay here and represent! LOL

What an interesting journey!

In an attempt to live with both tablets I found myself unlocking and rooting the Nexus 7, then installing flash and the stock Android browser onto it.
When an update came down the line it was rejected by my nexus 7 because of all the crap I did to it that now had to be undone to accept the update.

For all the coolness that the nexus 7 brings, it doesn't give me the full user experience that I'm getting on my Excite 10 AT305 and it's extremely annoying, so into the "drawer of purgatory" goes the Nexus 7!

I've learned to forgive my Toshiba for the light bleed issue because it kicks butt in just about every other way.
It just took me a little while to realize that.

I posted a flashable ota update for rooted users. It will work even with all the modifications you've made.
