Most Overrated Game...Opinions Needed

Just curious of what my fellow forums members think is the most overrated game in your opinion. What's the one game you read about online / read good reviews on in the market / played on iOS & then when it came to Google Play you were wondering what all the hype was about. Remember folks everyones opinions are going to be different so lets try to play nice.

My choice: Temple Run, just not all that.

I'm pretty sure its got to be Angry Birds. Its decent, but its not THAT great. Its not like its concept had never been tried before in Flash games.

Agreed about Draw Something and Angry Birds. When people tell me that those are games, I think of it as a fat person being told that a salad is food.


From now on, I'm going to refer to these "games" as salads.

Final Fantasy 3 at $15.99

While I agree that the price is a little high, it is a decent game so are.

In my opinion, I would have to go with Dark Meadow: The Pact. I just couldn't get into it.

For PC - Minecraft. Games have developed so much, some even looking almost real, then Minecraft comes along and brings it back to almost 64 bit gaming...

For Android - Angry Birds. I played it for a while and realised ALL of the levels are the same, and that it's such a shallow and childish game.

I tend to think that "modern" graphics are overrated.

As for Angry Birds, I agree that it's overrated, but come on, it's not even aimed at us. Most people who would come to a forum like this are "gamers" who want deep, engaging, long-lasting games. Stuff like Angry Birds is aimed at the hordes of non-gamers out there who want to pull their phones out and amuse themselves for 5 minutes in a way that requires little thought or effort. Angry Birds is perfect for that demographic, hence its popularity.

Great post !! I was hoping to get " gamers " when I started this thread. I'm not putting anyone down who has posted, but was hoping for more insite into games outside of the one's my parents know about..lol. Thanks for your posts & keep 'em coming.

+1 for Temple Run, I totally don't get what the deal was with that one.

It might not be a popular choice, but I actually think ShadowGun was very, very over rated. It is good, don't get me wrong, just not as amazing as some made it out to be.

Im not really a fan on any first person shooters on a phone. Not enough real estate for precise movements.

For Android, I say Gang Wars is over rated or any other of the mass recruiting games. No animations, all text based, and heavily revolves around "recruiting" (aka spam and advertise for the developer). They took a pyramid scheme and turned it into a "game".

I'm sure some people still enjoy it, but definitely not my cup of tea.

I lost interest in Temple Run while watching someone play it on their iDevice, way before it was released on Android. Every IAP game is overrated. I refuse to play anything that has it. I also agree with parish about those recruitng/spam type games as well.

Angry Birds. The most overrated are generally the most popular... not a bad game, the ads are very annoying and obtrusive though. I don't think it's good enough to garner 3 sequels, and now a console port of the first 3 games (probably at a much higher price). Why would anyone want to play Angry Birds on a console?

It'd definitely be out of temple run and angry birds. Temple run is the same thing over and over, it just gets faster and spawns obstacles quicker.

Angry birds is just, well, plain simple mobile gaming. Not sure why it gets all of the attention that nothing before it did, but the developers did something right.

What about Osmos ? From a visual standpoint it is very cool, but the game play is just not there.

3DS, PS3, and 360. As downloads these aren't bad ideas...but they're retail games (read: on discs and 3DS carts) and will be $29.99 (3DS) and $39.99 (PS3, 360) for three games (original, Seasons, and Rio). Huge, huge risk and, as a longtime gamer, I hope it bombs hard at retail.

On phones? Hmmm...anything by Gameloft for me. I've either played them in their non copy/paste form before or it just is average.
