Root [Revised] Rooting Gingerbread 2.3.5 Dummies Guide

Yes just MMS. I haven't checked GPS, but phone calls and web surfing all works fine. Apps load things fine etc. My data connection seems to be intact.

Ok I did that. Nothing changed when I cleared the cache in the system. And I just went to handcent and cleared all that stuff with no change. The pictures sit in the message with the cog wheel like they are sending but never go. I also tried sending it through the stock messanger app and it doesn't work either.

Yep exactly. I can send sms just fine. Send and receive. The ONLY problem I'm having is picture messages. I just tried sending a single message that is over 160 characters long (which I THINK then converts the text to an MMS right?) and it went through. So it's literally something with pictures messages.

Hello!
Sorry I'm not in the US so a lot of this will be guess work.
Have you tried sending your picture message through stock mms and the third party (handcent?)
What third party sms apps you used?
Are you on 3G, WiMax, Wifi?

Also can you check your APN and maybe someone can confirm it with you
To check go to: Settings >> More >> Mobile networks >> Access point names

See 3 or 4 posts up. I have tried using stock messaging app and the handcent app. Neither has worked. Those are the only two apps I have on my phone. I may just try uninstalling handcent entirely and re-trying.

I'm on 3G only. I've connected to Wifi before and tried without any luck as well.

@robo...he "almost" accepted an OTA update but appears he is still rooted. The only issue he has is with sending pic's as mms. His sms works, internet, phone calls etc works. Even his long sms texts work fine.
I just dont get it. Perhaps as he said, uninstall/reinstall handcent or another sms app such as gosms will work but his stock mms does not seem to work either?!?!?

If you d/l catlog from the store you can record a logcat of when you send a picture message and post that here to take a look at and maybe we can see if there are any errors

Robo I don't know where this APN thing is you're talking about? I don't have a "more" under my settings menu. Are you talking about a settings menu under a particular application or something?

I downloaded it. Not sure what to do with it. It compiled this massive catalog. Not sure how to post it? If you have some directions for me for what to do I certainly can do it.

Ok we want it a bit smaller.
Open the catlog app.
Press menu and select record and set the file name.
Then send a picture message, and let it send or not!
Go back to catlog and stop. This will save a logcat file.
To get it use a file explorer and go to catlog>saved_logs on your sd card.
Post that text file either here as an attachment or on pastebin.com

APN setting should be in your networks folder I think. Can another Sprint person confirm this??

There is an app apn back&restore you can use that too to get your apn details. Check out this thread.

Here is the log...I had to drop it into a zip since the size was too large for a txt attachment.

You know... I wonder if a recent update from Handcent screwed things up. The current version of Handcent says they "Improved send MMS from sprint network". I also see a review on there from someone on 7/22/2012 with an Evo 4G that says since the update they can't send pics or videos.

Is it possible that handcent's update broke the ability to send pic/videos for the phones in general and not just within their own app??

I screwed up and thought that I had the sync program already installed. Turns out I didnt.... installed it and everything went smoothly.
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions.

Now I need to figure out how to roll back a restore. After installing MikG, i restored 'Concacts' thinking that's where they were stored, but now each time I go to 'people' it forces close. 'com.android.htccontacts stopped unexpectaedly.'
I assume this is because of the restor i did.

Mainly talking to myself at thsi point, but for anyone else that may run into this issue....
I wiped again and reinstalled the MikG and everything works as expected.
Nice rom.
Thanks again for the help.

I downloaded Go SMS and i can download and send pic messages, but what is odd is the program alerts to me that messages failed to download... yet I see them so they clearly must have.

I also downloaded the APN using the APN app that previously was mentioned. I discovered something odd. When I opened the file I had only the first two lines of texts in the string of code others seemed to have. I had this... <?xml version=
