A Few 2.1 Apps & Such

Here's a few 2.1 apps for those peeps using 2.1 on their Eris. Dunno if this has been posted yet, I know some dude posted the music player, but here is the Weather Widget and Flan Gallery amongst other things. Seems to work only when using stock 2.1 w/o Sense.

When you say flan gallery do you mean it will have the flan lockscreen now or just the gallery of wallpapers that flan has?

Neither. It's the Flan photo gallery. Looks pretty sharp.

anybody tried the gallery app? Its running VERY SLOW on mine. I'm going to try to reboot see if that helps.

Works slow at first install. Once you close it and reopen it works fine. Well at least for me it does.

It's the Eris, I doubt it has the horsepower to do the new fancy gallery without running slowly.

Thanks. The Launcher apk doesn't work, which would have been sweet to have. And when pressing the music button on the clock apk it force closes. Everything else seems to be stable.

Just an update...I have downloaded both gallery apps from http://www.droid-life.com/2010/01/install-genie-weather-widget-from.html the new eclair with pinch to zoom and the flan gallery. Although the pinch to zoom feature would be nice It was waaaayyyy too laggy to be useable for me. The Flan gallery looks to be the exact same thing minus the pinch to zoom and is much faster. The gallery app will make your screen freak out in landscape tho

Yeah, the gallery actually goes all psychadelic when you're viewing it, then flip it. If you have your Eris on landscape, then open it up, landscape works fine but when you flip it back to portrait, it goes haywire again and vice versa.

since the 2.1 from the HTC desire and Legend look about the same as the new 2.1 leaked, is there any way to get the "news widget" and the "friendstream" widget ported or extracted to use them in the eris?

Have you found the flan music app yet? I have it saved on my SD card if you want it. Just let me know.

the reason for the hang up is that it creating new thumbnails. I have over a thousand pics. It took FOREVER, but once its done, it works like a dream.

if you want the flan gallery to work better get a class 6 card rather than the class 2 that comes with it

"Layar" is a cool app. Found in the app store. Although for me, it puts my Eris on the fence in terms of performance.

Also, on a side note, since this is about apps...Does anyone else have the problem with Handcent being a memory hog? It seems like it's lagging my phone. Did a quick search and found android users complaining about some quirky issues with the messaging system itself, but not too many comments on lag. Love Handcent, not sure I like it eating my memory. It's always at the top of my list when opening System, always on, and always 4-5M or more, pushing me over the "30M free memory" limit slowing me a bit.
