I dunno... touch keypads tend to annoy me some because they're over-sensitive. My roommate lent me her iPhone when my phone broke, and I ended up just refusing to text because it was too damn annoying.
I personally like manual keypad, personally.
Though, I won't be getting a G1 anytime soon (poor :( ), but hopefully they'll give the option instead of just instating one or the other...

I with a small, select group waiting for verizon to cave :D
Dont hold your breath! Verizon has the best network in my area but they suck real bad at getting new phones, and handicap them when they do. I'm waiting to get a touch pro from sprint because they have the wifi calling from home to boost your signal at home. I live in a hole, but verizon is the only service that works inside my house, and even then only in some rooms, and i usually end up standing by the window. The other providers require me to stand by (in) the street. When the touch pro comes to verizon, it will have half the ram, a steel case (instead of aluminum), and a slower processor compared to sprint. That pretty much defeats the reason to upgrade. It time for me to switch providers and take advantage of the 30 day trial period before i cancel and switch my number over.

This is getting a little off topic, but I've never had an issue with verizon aside from the whole "I have to pay you to use my phone" thing (which you'll find with any company...). I used Altell previously, but the plan I had wasn't supported in Chicago, so I switched to Verizon, which my family has.
I don't really know what you're talking about with their phones... we've never had issues with ours... Maybe it's user error? ;)
