Will Verizon ever have "simply everything" type plans?

I Know Verizon has its "unlimited talk and text" plans but they still aren't equal to Sprints simply eveything plans. Was wondering if anyone here thinks Verizon will ever implement these kinds of plans? Or, is Verizon just so big, they feel that they would never have to compete with Sprint, and not offer "simply everything" type plans.

I came from Sprint to Verizon and regret it for more than one reason, the primitive plans at the top of the list.

And like a dope I did a two year contract. That is embarrassing.

They aren't going to lower prices while they are still gaining subs...Sprint pricing wont drive them down, ATT might but they are lockstepped in what they do.

I figured since they seem to be doing fairly well that they might not be in any rush to add that type of plan. I did try out sprint first. Mostly due in part because of their simply everything plans. Unfortunately, I got a sub-par signal in my home. With Verizon I get a very good signal, even in my basement.


EDIT: Meant to say that I get an exellent Data/EVDO signal, but only an average 1x voice signal in my basement. Thats ok though, I can live with that.

I know the prices are higher with VZW, but imo, you get what you pay for. I don't drop calls...That is the most important to me and I'm willing to pay for it.

Just an FYI though, not only will you see lower plans, but Verizon plans to go to metered billing for net access when they launch 4G...

Oh I definitely agree, Verizons network and call quality seem to be top notch. That isnt' in dispute with me. I am obviously willing to pay for it too. Otherwise I would have canceled before my 30 days were up. I was just curious more then anything else. I currently have the $5.00 = 250 text a month plan add on. I am envious of a friend who has the simply everything 450 sprint plan which includes unlimited text and his monthly bill is less then mine.

In their eyes they would only gain high churn subs. Seems to me they don't even want the low usage low dollar folks that prolly cost them nothing on the network but lower their arpu. All about looking good to stockholders.

Yeah. The only problem is that it costs money to have the most expansive 3G coverage and build out 4G faster than Sprint can. If Verizon competed on pricing with the other carriers, their coverage would probably be just as gimped.

So here's a question where this forum was the closest to being on topic. I am still on my old Family Plan where I have my primary line, and 4 additional lines. Last night I was online paying my bill, and I was looking over the new plans. The thing that caught my eye is the new Family Plans explicitly state that each additional line would be $9.99 for up to 3 additional lines. Does anyone know what happens to my fourth additional line? Do I get grand-fathered in because I currently have a Family Plan with the 4 additional lines, or are they going to make me break up my plan into two separate plans? My concern is I get a considerable discount through work. I haven't called VZW yet, but wanted to see if any of the knowledgeable people here could prepare me, since the CSRs aren't always right.

That's easy to answer actually.

For a family plan it's assumed that you'll have more than 1 person on the line (otherwise it's an individual plan) so they set it up as the first line is $110 and the second line as $9.99. Then you can add 3 more lines for $9.99 each for a grand total of 5 lines. So it goes like, 1st line total: 110, 2nd line total: 120, 3rd line total: 130, and so on.

Lmao. Sprint and verizon = same coverage. Especially after the alltel merger. There *were* stipulations to that deal. And verizon won't beat sprint to nationwide 4g. Here's why.

Sprint has a 1 year head start.

Sprints wimax is backed by several billion dollar companies, sprint, clearwire, intel, GOOGLE(honestly, when have you seen google fail?), and comcast just to name a few. That's a lot of capital, and power.

I *honestly* can't remember the last time I've dropped a call. Really. I travel for work too.

When you do drop a call, Sprint pays you for that dropped call.

Vzw will fall, all companies do eventually. Its just how they pick themselves back up that counts.

They may have the same infrastructure but not the same coverage. When you come out here, Sprint will be paying you as soon as you walk into my building. Even craptacular AT&T iPhone users get a signal which makes it really funny. I doubt you would be able to perform your test because your Samsung will power off because of lack of battery by the time you reach the atrium. (I'm just teasing. I love your phone, I just laugh when my friend gets so mad at his which makes me like it even more.)

I justify it by realizing one works better than the other in a given area. Where Sprint is better for you in your area, Verizon is better for me in my area.

That my friend, is 100% acceptable and justifiable. Saying a company sucks just because it doesn't work for you, in a certain spot, is what I was coming against.

But the statement you just made, I completely agree. If I moved to an area where sprint wasn't the best, id switch in a heartbeat.

It is not 100% acceptable nor justifiable when one claims that a carrier is better nationwide when it obviously isn't. It is true no one has 100% coverage and when you need as close to that as you can get, you go to the carrier that can do that for you which is why a lot of people go with a GSM carrier so that they can get more coverage internationally.

I am curious to see how the Walmart|Sprint deal shakes out. Maybe VZW would offer cheaper service to try to steer folks away from that. I am all for every carrier getting something good (which is why I didn't cry much when Sprint got the Instinct all those years ago.) Carriers doing good things, like Sprint's 4g that I covet because of its limited availability, encourages those who can't do it first to do it better (hopefully.)

I want someone to explain to me why you have to pay for text seperately from data. Well, I guess that goes toward the argument of why you should have to pay for voice when you can use Skype over your 3g...

As long as verizon sees subscriber gains or even a scratch, you will probably not see the prices go down. An extra 30/mo per line for pda phones is absolutely ridiculous, I don't care what you say. But as long as people fall for the clever marketing, and want to be in the "in" crowd, they can rape people with those prices.

And to answer your question, on plenty of forums I've been to there are what I like to call "carrier wars"

But let me ask *you* something. If there were two pcs, one was an hp, and one was a no name, with the SAME EXACT PARTS, would you pay more for the hp or whatever your prefered brand is?

I would love it if big red offered "simply everything" type plans. Like another poster already mentioned though, as long as Verizon is the "top dog" so to speak, they obviously feel no need to do such a thing.

I hate to say it IOWA, but it depends. If I could be certain that they were installed exactly the same way and customer support was identical I would go with the cheaper one. (HP would put their crapware on it anyway, so I would almost be tempted to go with the other company solely to not have to reinstall Windows.)

I apologize for going even more off topic, but I can't resist telling you about my latest XPS adventure: Procurement thought they could save a buck by getting a DELL reseller to supply our latest round. When I unpacked it, it was coated in a plastic film. I could understand that because who wants that nice aluminum case to get scratched in shipping, so I peel it off. It looks like some of the film is going inside the case, I took the side panel off. It was almost as if each panel was coated in plastic and I thought "Well, someone was committed!" When I noticed that my videocard was coated in plastic though it was also plugged into the motherboard, I thought "Well, someone SHOULD BE committed!"

OK, crazy stories over. I promise not to derail this anymore.

Wtf... I would be very unhappy with that purchase.... but yeah bloatware is a pain. That's why I build my own boxes.

LOL. I gotta give credit where its due. Iowa I think you are the most logical sprint fanboy I've seen on a forum for the record I'm on VZW but have no loyalty. If they make me give up my Alltel plan ill deal with sprints crappy build out around here. Can you still put phones on force roam?
