Help Email Won't Authenticate Sometimes - Says Incorrect Password

This is on my fathers phone. He keeps getting an error which states that: "The following error has prevented a successful connection: Incorrect username or password. Visit settings to correct."

I have checked and double checked the settings, and they are all correct. The thing that makes this so strange is it's intermittent. On fairly rare occasions, the email works fine and then suddenly will not, for a week or so on end. Another thing is it only does this with one email account. A second email account (with different domains, but the same hosting provider) goes through just fine!

I've tried connecting through 3g, 4g, and WiFi, all exhibit the same issue.

I've tried redoing all the settings, multiple times. I know it's really easy to say "You're typing in the password incorrect", but I really feel like I'm not.

Is this a problem with Sprint maybe? Will they not allow the authentication of one domain but will allow the other?

I'm guessing this is a YAHOO MAIL account. There have been problems with using the native email application & YAHOO MAIL for a few months now.

I started having this exact problem w/YAHOO MAIL today, even though I haven't changed my password, & was receiving email just fine until now. (no password issues, that is).

I've tried re-checking my settings, etc......,to no avail. My next step is to contact YAHOO, as this is a problem on their end, not mine/ours.

I had success in removing my YAHOO MAIL account from my phone & re-loading it in the native/stock e-mail application. However,it is still buggy,as when I have an intermittent data connectivity issue,I still get account errors w/the YAHOO account, but, not any of my other e-mail accounts, including G-mail.

To say YAHOO MAIL has been buggy of late would be an understatement,& as much as I like YAHOO MAIL,I've recently x-ferred most of my important transactions,etc.. from my YAHOO MAIL account to another non-YAHOO account,as the attention to their e-mail issues is lacking & no word from YAHOO on any updates to address these issues.

I've all but closed the account in hopes that YAHOO will get their collective S*** together, for as much as I like GOOGLE & all of their offerings,I still like some of YAHOO'S offerings & would hate to see them disappear from the scene altogether,if for no other reason,to keep the rest of the players honest w/a bit if competition& help keep the innovations flowing.
