Root root your mytouch 3g!!!

Oh, nothing major. Just a couple of apps that don't quite work the way they're supposed to. I ran the fix_permissions command in terminal a few days ago, and that didn't do anything.

I just loaded Amon-Ra's recovery, and did the same thing from there. We'll see. Maybe I just need to backup and wipe. (That sounds unsavory. lol)

Hmmm I haven't heard of that, what apps are they?

Hmmm I haven't heard of that, what apps are they?

I'm not surprised that you haven't heard of the problems, I haven't been able to find anyone else who's had either of them.

Wallswitch hasn't been auto-switching my wallpapers, or does so very irregularly and not always to the folder I pointed it at. That tends to make me think it's conflicting with something. There was the issue a couple months ago that Wallswitch would cause random reboots, I'm wondering if CM did something to disable the app (although I can't find anything saying that).

Setting Profiles immediately started giving me grief changing profiles based on location. I'd only been using the course location, which worked fine for me prior to the CM rom. I did find a couple vague comments that indicated that CM doesn't do course location very well. I started leaving GPS on and that worked for awhile, but it's getting wonky again, and it even failed to switch my one time-based profile off the last two days.

I emailed the Wallswitch dev, but haven't heard back yet. The location issue is almost certainly related to CM and not to Setting Profiles, but I have no idea why the time-based profiles seem to be acting up.

I'm not about to go back to stock over these two gripes, but I would like to see if a different rom fixes them.

1.9.4 doesn't look like it will be out before the weekend, and with my work schedule I wouldn't be able to flash it until Sunday at the earliest. I think I might go ahead and do 1.9.3 tonight. I just got the license for Titanium Backup, so it should be a lot easier this time.

Well, did my first Nandroid restore. lol

Not sure what happened. I did a full Titanium Backup, booted into recovery and did a Nandroid backup, then wiped the data, flashed SuperD, rebooted, signed in, did the Titanium restore, then booted into recovery and flashed a theme.

Fully booted, and there was no lockscreen, the home and search buttons didn't work, and Screebl was completely inop. Multiple reports of "my home button doesn't work anymore!" in the SuperD thread with the only suggestion being "wipe and reinstall" weren't encouraging, and doing the "fix apk uids" command from recovery didn't help at all.

So I gave up. Maybe if I HAD wiped and reinstalled it would have worked, but I was about to have a panic attack; plus it was a clean install, so how would another wipe and install change anything?

Plus the theme's boot animation was the Droid logo, so that annoyed me. :D

Thank the FSM for Nandroid. lol

I'll try again with that or another rom some other time.

You'd be amazed at what a wipe can do! I've had times where I have flashed a rom right over top of another and lots of the appearances are the same in the new rom (when they shouldn't be) as the appearances from the old rom. So if that is happening, then I can only imagine what kind of internal problems there could be. Because whether it be with aesthetics or with problems with operations a wipe of everything and then reinstall of the rom fixes everything. So I would give it a go, and plus, I haven't had any problems with SuperD, and its the fastest Rom I've ever used!

Yeah, that was the problem; AdvancedLauncher or some other system setting fubared it pretty good.

So now I'm running SuperD with the WG kernel. Haven't used it long enough to know if it's making any real difference. At first blush, it doesn't seem any faster than CM.

Well I think with extended use you'll notice its speed. I know that I noticed right from the start. With Cyanogen, after signing into Google and starting it up the first time, it took a long time to load everything, I couldn't do anything without it asking me to wait or force close an app. But with SuperD, its operational right from the beginning. Keep with it, see what you think. Good Luck!

Eh, I was annoyed about a couple trivial things. For one thing, ol' Ben needs to get a separate Twitter account for his SuperD stuff. I don't care much for his political views. lol

I installed 1.10.2. Seems okay, except that it broke my Metamorph theme. I'll give it a few days, but I still don't see where it's so much better than CM.

Haha, I don't think I've ever see much of his political views on there, except for the health care bill, and even then his opinion was pretty quick and painless, like ripping off a Band-Aid.

Well, let's just say that anyone who thinks the healthcare bill makes this a socialist country WOULDN'T want me to become President. Socialist? I wish.

(I've sworn to strangle, with my bare hands, the next idiot who says that we have a socialist country as of the passing of that bill. See above.)

Anyway, I managed to get Swype to reinstall (whew!), course locations seem to be working again i.e. Setting Profiles is doing what it's supposed to do (although I didn't really test it with 1.9.3), and while 1.10.2 also broke Wallpaper Rotator, Wallswitch *seems* to be working again.

But... When Cyanogen comes out with a new update, I'm most likely gonna install it, because I still don't see what the big deal is with SuperD.

Aaaaand, I think I'm gonna start learning how to do MetaMorph themes next weekend. lol

Interesting how GOOGLE, a huge Socialist proponent threatens people who create your free Rom's from! A much better one at that too.

BTW, Obama and his HC plan is Socialist. We are just the messengers pointing that out. While our country is not socialist now, This administration is fast tracking us there.

BTW, Latest Super "D" is so much better than anything out here I have tried. Added the latest WIFI tether and gave up my sprint card.

Does rooting give you multitouch? And could I still use panda home?

Rooting does allow for multitouch, but only in the browser and in the pictures gallery. I may be missing other places, but I don't really see the point of multitouch really. But hey some people want it and so it has been included in most popular roms.

Also, yes, you can still use Pandahome while using a rooted phone.

OK here we go again... Just found the update via SD updater in the phone. What do i need to do. If i download then it boot right into it? Gosh i hate this crud. LOL

Just flash it over the old one, should work fine. If not, that's what the Nandroid backup you just did is for. :)

ETA: while flashing it over the old rom keeps your settings, it still erased all of my old ringtones (weird), so back those up, too.

Well I really like the 6 dockbars that panda home gives me. And I bought this theme that I really like for it. Dang, I'm really interested in rooting but if I bricked my phone it'd be back to the BB for me..

I would definitely help you to root your phone, but I don't not know much about the Mytouch 1.2 rooting process, if I did I would definitely assure you that we could do it, however, I suggest asking Shawn1224 for more help with it. I'm sure that with rooting you're phone would be much faster and capable of handling a theme like Pandahome, because I haven't see any root theme that are quit ethe same as home replacement apps. There are many themes that work to change the colors, icons, dialer, and a few other visual things, but I haven't seen much of any that give you custom application trays like those apps like PandaHome or SweeterHome.

If you use the updater all you have to do is select to download the new version, then it will ask if you want to apply the update now or later. Just select now and it will reboot your phone and go into your recovery image and flash the update. All you have to do is reboot after that.
