Hi,

I'm planning to buy the HTC One V & am concerned about it's Unibody. It seems to mean that one can NEVER change it's battery.

Is this true or can one take it to a technician & get the battery replaced, if required.

I just wanted to know the experiences of other Unibody phone users regarding this.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help.... :)

You can remove its battery if you take it to a technician or an HTC service center. You just can't do it yourself (unless you know how to remove the body panels).

This is a great device. I wouldn't let the non-removable battery stop me.

...you must of bought it last week.

The truth of this POS phone follows:

Bought it 3 months ago, now it currently wont turn on.

Comes preloaded with junk like twitter, facebook that you cannot remove!! it will alwways try to run in the background and you will see it kills the battery daily and each time your battery lasts noticeably less than last time you charged it. In fact come to me in 1 year and tell me how long your fully charged built in battery lasts then...

next issue... if you use the phone outside you can only see the screen when its at the highest level of brightness...and you can still barely see what your typing, if the sun is out forget it, youll have to step inside to use this POS. Also when you keep brightness on high, it kills the battery 10X faster youll get 4 hours if your lucky and then if you actually use the phone to talk or browse the web youll cut that time in half.

If you drop the phone on any surface your cheap screen will crack in multiple areas, might as well come cracked...DO NOT keep it in your pocket it will crack if you bend over very fragile.

This manufacturer puts out products without proper testing. its been under 3 months and today my phone was working fine until halfway through the day, when I could feel it pretty much burning a hole in my pocket. I wasnt running wifi or anything but anyways when i took the phone out of my pocket its dead, removed everything i could, wont turn on, connected to power its done. The phone is cheaply made and you get what you pay for bottom line... I learned my lesson not to buy HTC products and i hope you are all forewarned do not buy this phone its a waste of $200

you have OBVIOUSLY had a sucky time with your one v lol but any preloaded junk can be EASILY removed with root... EASILY... THAT WILL KILL YOUR BACK ROUND DATA PROBLEM FROM THOSE APPS... the brightness issue thats pretty much every phone really... every phone ive had i had to crank the brightness in the sun (EVO 4G, EPIC 4G, ESTEEM, CONNECT 4G, ECT) AND YOU most likely JUST GOT A BAD BATTERY BECAUSE i AND OTHERS ON THIS FORUM GET FROM LIKE A DAY TO TWO DAYS ON ONE CHARGE!!! BIG STEP UP FROM MY EVO V!! AND AS FOR YOUR SCREEN... ANY PHONE WILL BREAK IF U DROP it... (even with a case) IVE DROPPED MANY PHONES AND NEVER HAVE BROKEN A SCREEN... maybe you need to b a tad bit nicer to your phones... htc makes great phones from what ive seen and experienced... id suggest getting a new one... not switching brands because of ONE FAULTY phone... think about it

How is it possible that you bought it 3 months ago? Virgin Mobile didn't start selling it until June 29th, i.e. barely a month ago.

There is an international GSM version that has been out for a few months.

That being said, remember to keep it nice in here. It's okay to voice complaints (or to refute them), but we need to keep it friendly and avoid any personal attacks.

There is a way to simulate a battery removal. This is from the HTC Website-

Simulate a battery pull
Since the HTC One™ V does not have a removable battery, there is an alternate method to simulate the process of pulling the battery to kill power to the device. To do this, press and hold the power key for 10 seconds. The capacitive buttons on the bottom of the screen should begin flashing for 5 seconds before the device will power off completely and then restart.
