For people who don't know and purchased directly from Google, the warranty will be taken care of by google for the entire first year for repairs and replacements. This is according to the customer support person I talked to when asking for a replacement because of the screen separation issue. I thought I only had 15 days before Asus would take over dealing with the warranty, but apparently that is only outside of the 1 year warranty if you wanted a repair outside of warranty.

There is 15 days to return it. But warranty replacement and repair is for a full year from google.

That is good news because I am guessing Google has better customer service than Asus.

Good to hear! I guess that a year is way more than enough to figure out if there's a problem :D

Ok well I just got my replacement and guess what - out of the box = screen rise on the exact same spot!!!

At this point I am pretty upset with google and thinking about calling them and asking just to return them both. Any of you have any ideas? and also what the hell is the point of returning the one where I have all of my crap installed to replace it with one with the same problem?

Gah! I'm waiting for my new one from Play to be delivered and I'm not feeling very confident.
One reason I keep fiddling around with my current one trying to find a fix without side effects.
Then if the new one has the problem I know what to do with minimum fuss.

Do what grab some super glue and glue the damn screen down. Just absolutely ridiculous I am gonna be giving google a damn phone call tomorrow and ask them if super glue will work!

If mine is broken when it arrives I will keep getting replacements because
A. I just want a perfect tablet
B. It costs Google money to ship these things back and forth
Spiteful? Yes.

Yea the problem is actually worse with the new one when I put it on the charger more of the screen is up - I think I will go ahead and send them the new back after I give them a piece of my mind tomorrow!
I'm pretty much expecting mine to arrive flawed now :( I really just wish that it was Google sealing the boxes with black tape after doing a final qc check. Obviously Asus's QC is non-existent.

So this is only if you buy straight from Google, correct?

Now that I came down a little I don't know what to do I am thinking about returning my tablet. I am still in the 15 days, I don't quite understand how I can rationalize spending almost 300 dollars for a thing that has the screen coming off of it. Well what are you guys planning to do it you get a defective replacement. I am just really disappointed.

I received the email my replacement has shipped and will be here tomorrow. As much as I love my Nexus 7, if the replacement isn't in pristine condition and working 100% I will be asking for a refund. I'm not the kind of consumer who will accept defects in a new product for which I've paid several hundred $$, or even $20. Consumers have an expectation, and a right to expect, of their new product to work like new. People having to go through 3 or 4 replacements is ludicrous.

But that's just me. :)

Now that my rage is completely gone and I have looked at the alternatives I think I am going to stick with Nexus 7 I am on the phone with google and will send their new back and will ask them when they expect this problem to get resolved - the ultimate decision is really depending what they answer to that question. If they say something stupid I am just gonna send them both back but most likely I will wait another 2 months before I RMA again in the hope that ASUS has decided to fix the problem and not ignore it.

Also these items are not immune to the lemon law so if you get a replacement enough times and it does not fix your problem you can return it to them.

I tried to ignore this thread so I wouldn't look for the problem but I got bored at work and read what to look for so as soon as I get home I check out my new toy and I have it too.

Now that I know it's there it will drive me nuts so I'm taking it back to Sears tomorrow after work.

Sears doesn't have any more in stock and I really hate to order directly from Google and pay the tax/shipping and having to deal with returning it if there are problems. I had an order I just canceled with Macmall, almost wishing I would have kept it open.

Ugh...so disappointed.

Since there is a 1 year warranty could I just take it up with Google?

I hate to say this, I could just return and wait to see if how the iPad mini is.

Also, what happens with the $25 credit if i get a replacement or return it with no replacement?

Well you would have to go through Asus, but you have to pay to ship it to them. Also you're credit should still be there. Just as a side note, the credit is even available for me to use on my evo.
