when are we getting 2.1????????

So we are getting it when Droid hits 6.0 (lol)

Think one thing now: The phone came out last november, so we have to give time to Samsung to develop something good which improves are investment. I know that if would get an update and it would be buggy as hell we would all be complaining anyways, and anyways, if Samsung doesn't do it, I know someone in the community will so.... its a win win situation for all of us.

Anyways we all know that this phone is capable of handling 2.0 or .1 no doubt about that so its just a matter of time, I know that regarless of any other phone that Samsung is cooking they will support this one for at least 1 1/2 years more (that's the mobile standard) before the hardware itself cant keep up with the OS and software enhancements.

So what we have to do? Stand down and be calm... it will come and we will all be talking about why we are not in 6.0 lol....

I hope people have looked at the pictures of the new Samsung Galaxy S, specifically how the TouchWiz interface has changed.

There are 2 points to be made:

First, Samsung has taken feedback from users and made some changes to enhance the user interface.

Second, their implementation of 2.1 is going to include lots of new features, and 2 months after the release of the source is simply too short of time to expect a finished version of a totally new OS.

While I expect BH_MAN to release a 2.1 ROM well before Samsung, I am looking forward to a new and improved TW interface from Samsung.

someone once noted that that phone looks like iPhone with android down to the software. I agreed with that person.

ok I'm a complete noobie, so this may sound kinda dumb, but....If I put the 1.6 on my phone, is that rooting it? and can I brick up my phone by doing it? TIA

Its upgrading the software because currently we run Android 1.5 which a lot of apps have stopped supporting so by upgrading the software we will be able to use a lot more apps and other things and yes I do believe it also roots it and no you can't brick your phone by doing this I too am a complete newbie to doing this and I did it, but this is basically resetting your phone so any unsaved apps or information will ultimately disappear so be sure to back up your phone before upgrading to 1.6.

Ok, I have searched through the settings in my phone and cant find where it says I'm running 1.5.

ok second, how do I "backup" my phone? and can you send a link of the 1.6 upgrade that you did.

third, I read about the uprading to 1.6 and dont understand alot of it, if I do it, can you or someone else help me step by step to figure it out so I can run better? thanks

I did the BH_MAN_DONUT_R1.zip but they did update the Rom recently so the most up to date one currently is BH_MAN_DONUT_R2.zip and you can download the file at the link

As far as backing up your phone goes there are certain apps you can download that will save the apps and files you have now to the Micro SD card in your phone, I use ATrackDog(SD), Astro, and App Manager.

Just about anyone in the All things root behold 2 forum should be able to help you out with any other questions you may have.

There are a few kinks that still need to be worked out like putting the phone on vibrate doesn't work yet but camera works and market works...

if your phone is new no you don't really have anything to lose so there really isn't any need to back up anything its just good to if you have a lot of stuff on your phone.
