Yeah, i'm not going thru all of that to send it to Asus when I've had it for 3 days. I think I'll just take it back to Sears and maybe order one from Radio Shack. The shipping is free and if there is an issue i'll take it back to a store.

Well you would have to go through Asus, but you have to pay to ship it to them. Also you're credit should still be there. Just as a side note, the credit is even available for me to use on my evo.

Yep, fourth. From four different locations. Some might call that ridiculous, as would I because devices shouldn't have this issue this often, but I really like the Nexus 7 and I want it in great condition.

I feel the same way. I'm currently waiting for my 2nd replacement. I typically wouldn't put up with this from a product but overall I am very impressed with the Nexus 7. I just want to make sure that mine is in great condition. I had my first one for 2 weeks before the replacement arrived and the screen separation just kept getting worse, makes me feel like the screen will fall off eventually if I don't get one that is in perfect condition.

Is it not kind of sad how badly Google and Asus dropped the ball on this project? First the shipping thing was just a disaster with pre orders shipping after the units started selling in some of the bigger retailers. Next you see quality issues where screens are coming apart bleed and image ghosting are appearing. Do companies not care about their reputation? If I was the head of Google I would ridicule Asus like crazy and suspend sales until the issue has actually been fixed. I don't think it is a secret that there is a nice hefty contract between Google and Asus to produce the Nexus 7 but it seems they half ass it. Personally I think this is much more damaging to Google as opposed to Asus. None the less I still like my Android and Asus will never get any of my money. The transformer infinity or anything in the future does not deserve my attention.

You know I am still surprised how these companies can screw things up so royally and say there is nothing they can do but when I made a small mistake at work during my training period I nearly got fired. That is how the world works, but I will simply choose to be an informed customer and not put up with a company's stupidity and not have them profit on my back. I guess just a rant that has been around my head. I would love to see some more rants for who do you think screwed the nexus 7 up?

I gotta say that I disagree on this. I think overall they have done a great job on this product. Their screw ups aren't nearly as bad as some of the other product launches I've seen, (Xbox 360 and iPhone 4 come to mind) as they are more or less relatively minor manufacturing errors rather than major design flaws.

I could rant and rave but it wouldn't do anything except raise my blood pressure. That's why I decided to get a refund after 2. No point in getting upset, although I'm very disappointed. I just won't give any money to Asus in the future. I'll learn from it and move on. :)

I really liked mine too and will keep returning and buying one until I get one that is right. I have an order with Radio Shack and returned my 1st N7 on the way home from work today.

The N7 makes a nice alternative to my iPad 2 plus I won't share this with my 2 and 3 year old kids.

Has anyone experienced screen separation on their recent 16GB orders? Has anyone gotten theirs already?

Thanks, dautley!

I've merge zetroc and your posts here in the aforementioned thread.

Related note--this is the first I've heard of this...don't think I've got it happening on my N7...gonna go and carefully check it now.

Cheers all!

I been reading thought this thread and Asus is another reason why I hesitated to get a Nexus 7.

I personally am a computer guy so I have used Asus parts in the past in fact when people would ask me about motherboards I would recommend Asus. They use to be a very good company yea they would have the occasional problem but that's to be expected with any high volume manufacture.

Back about 4 or 5 years ago I had a issue with one of there high end motherboards I payed almost 200 bucks for. I looked online and seen lots of people where having the same exact issue. I bought a cheapo ECS board and waited about a month and RMA'ed my Asus board thinking they would have a fix. The new board came in and had the same exact issue.

I contacted them went around with Tech support because they did not wanna RMA the second board. Finally I manged to get a manger on the phone who told me they knew about the issue. There where no plans to fix it in that model board. They would have a new board coming out in a few months I should just wait and upgrade if the feature was that important.

At that point I was ticked and demanded a refund they told me I would have to go thought the place of purchase for a refund. I was past my 30day return window so I was pretty much stuck with a very expensive broken Motherboard.

I still kinda held out hope thought that Google would put a firm boot in Asus butt about quality but reading these reports looks like its the same as before.

At this point they know about the screen separation issue. I would find it impossible to believe they had units in a warehouse that where just sitting around waiting to be used. That couldn't have been retro actively fixed before shipping.

My guess is at the 249 price point there making so little money its not cost effective for them to try and fix the screen yet. The majority of people will never notice so why fix it if they aint got to kinda thing.

I am curious to see how this plays out over the next 6months does it get worse or better.

Scary, I don't have separation on either of mine. The bezel should be slightly raised all the way around. Barely perceptible visually, but you can feel it with your fingers.

Looks like my 2nd one is shipping today from Radio Shack, i'm hoping it's like yours! There are obviously units out there without any issues, I just want one!

The problem with my first one was noticeable that everyone I showed it to could see it, especially when you press down on the left side of the screen.
