Verizon Google Wallet Update (from Play)

I JUST got a replacement GNex via Asurion (dropped my old one on a tile floor and murdered the screen). When I reloaded all my previous apps, it automatically downloaded Wallet for me again. The first time I tried to open the app it gave me an error along the lines of "this service is not currently supported on this device." When I just tried to open it up again, it logged me in no problem AND it reset the balance on my prepaid Google card. (It had been at $2.30 or so, and now is back up to the introductory $10.)

I'm on Verizon and am unrooted running stock ICS.

Everyone who isn't seeing it on their actual phones should check the web link. I'm pretty sure that's how I installed it last time. Link here.

Seems to me that Verizon is blocking access to it, but once you have a working copy on your phone you can use it as you normally would. For myself, in the past, even when it had the "you are using an unsupported device" notification on top of the app window it would still process transactions just fine. Hope this helps.

Vz GN, rooted. Yup I just followed the link and pushed it to my GN.

Really, its not that big of a difference but make you think you are using your CC directly. When you use your GW, the transaction is charged to a virtual google master card which in turn charges your credit card.

Previously, I set up my google prepaid master card to do transactions but fund it with my american express. So its practically the same but in reverse. My advice is for VZ users to update before they tell google to block us.

Same message from the web (rooted VZ GNex). Nexus 7 works, but not Galaxy Nexus:

I have it installed since it came with Bugless Beast. Hooked it up and got the $10 prepaid card. Still haven't used it cause it has the "unsupported device" banner. Verizon is such a pain in the ass these days.

It will still process the transactions with the banner that runs across the top of the screen. I've seen another one that is more like a separate screen altogether, and it won't work if you've got that popping up. For the banner though, just proceed like you normally would and everything should be hunky dory.

I remember when I had to re-install it after doing a factory reset, I was able to go to the Google Play website from my phone (not the market app) and get the app through there. This was not using the trick of later switching back to the market app, it was all done through the website.

It won't show up in your list of downloaded apps, you have to switch to the "all" list, and if there's an update, it will say "update" instead of "installed".

I'm going to just stick to the prepaid Google card, since the new credit cards feature doesn't actually link to them, it just uses Google to charge the card for the same amount. Since most of my cards are cash back and category based, I'd probably lose out on the extra cash back if I don't use it directly at the location. Looks like they're getting worried about Isis.

I had the previous version in Titanium Backup, restored it... and went to Play to update it. Wasn't there. But I fired up the PC browser and went to

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.walletnfcrel

Where it said "Installed". I clicked on "Installed" and it pushed the update to my Nexus! :D

Now I have all my cards in Wallet, and I can hardly wait to buy something :p

If you still can't get it to install, go here and sideload the apk.

Google Wallet update adds support for all credit cards

Make sure you have "unknown sources" checked in settings.

This was the update Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Apple were probably fearing. Google wallet having free access to use any card from any of the 4 major companies now gives consumers no desire to use Isis when it finally does get released. Apple probably hates this because now Google beat them to it before the iP5 comes out. *And queue the Apple patten trolling lawsuit*
