Root Anyone running ICS and NOT having heat issues?

i think people honestly worry too much about the temps.

the temp you see on set cpu and all battery widgets is the battery temp, not processor temp.none of the cpu temp widgets will work on the rezound,as it does not have a cpu temp sensor.

if youre having the issue thru 4 phones, have you used the same battery? maybe its actually a battery issue, not a hardware issue.

at any rate, the battery is rated to 140*. as long as you have insurance, just let it be hot. might not ever be an issue.

you could try some different batteries if you want, and see if that has any affects.

Bought a new battery yesterday. Same issue.
It is a big deal. If the CPU or Battery and not in any danger at 120F, great. But that doesn't change the fact that it is very uncomfortable to hold. And also, when it does get hot, battery plummets rapidly.

I'm getting a -85dBm to -90dBm signal. Is that bad?

Today, I was in meetings most of the day so I was on battery for 8 hours and still had 49% batt remaining. I surfed the web, checked email, Facebook and texted for 40 minutes and it got to 108.1F and dropped from 49% to 24%.
Is that normal?

hmm assuming you started at 100%,51% in 8 hours is a little over 6% an hour. if you had things syncing and werent in wifi, that sounds pretty decent.

from 49% to 24% is 25% in 40 minutes,or about 1.6% a minute. thats actually pretty on par with mine for heavy use-screen on,using data,or doing something processor intensive lile playing certain games.

as for your heat... sorry,i still haVE no idea. mine doesnt heat up like that when im in normal temps. today it was 115*+ the entire day,but it was 800*inside the car  (at least thats what it felt like ;))

do you have some sort of heavy cover or otterbox on the phone thats holding the heat in?

The only time I have heat issues are when I'm trying to charge in the car while running navigation. I'm using the HTC extended battery and cover, with an open-back TPU "bumper." The extra air gap in the cover is nice and without the extra insulation it does seem to dissapate heat rather well, but the car dock charging and Nav heating is really, really annoying, since they should work perfectly together.

The trapped pocket of air is a perfect insulator. It is retaining heat in the battery, even though the surface feels cooler to the touch.

What is MHS and what is broken about it on GB?
Mobile HotSpot. In GB, while MHS is activated, the data connection continually drops out and comes back, drops out and comes back.

I was reading this thread before and just happen to be in a position to have a 100% stock GB Rezound and now a Rezound running Newts with ICS so I did a test, I set both phones to identical sound/display settings then streamed 20 minutes of the exact same section of the same show on HBO GO swapping the battery from one phone to the other so each was tested using the same battery and here's what I got...

Both phones started at 90 Deg Batt temp...

GB phone was 105 after 20 min
ICS phone was 99 after 20 min

You can see the GB phone actually got hotter so I'm not sure if there is a direct ICS correlation to a heat issue.

That's not the first time I've seen someone report that ICS actually improved the heat issue. There's lots of speculation about revisions, and radios, and whatnot. I give up. When I called VZW to tell them this fourth Rezound they sent was still the same, they sent me a Galaxy Nexus. Let's see how this goes.
