Yes, I have upgraded to ICS yesterday, initial impression is awsome, nice and fresh look...performance yet to be tested..

I upgraded yesterday. IMHO, it's different but not really any better. I prefer the old bottom of the home page with the large "Phone" button rather than new style with more, smaller icons. It seems a bit laggy at times e.g. accessing the market but the actual upgrade went well with only the HTC Hub access causing some problems (Had to delete and the add back my account). All in all, I would have been happy to remain on 2.3.5 but the new firmware still does the job and I haven't found anything "broken" yet.

Yes, I agree - extremely laggy - really poor to be honest.

Also having issues connection to the network - I am on 02 and my phone keeps dropping out and then won't reconnect. Then says phone doesn't recognise the sim card - maddening really as I have had the phone for 13 months!!!!!!!

NOT happy with ICS so far - maybe when the bugs are ironed out it will be fine, but I think that HTC should have tested this more thoroughly - these OTA upgrades are always a pain - if you buy a new phone with ICS already installed it usually works fine - the OTA updates however are frequently a pain!!!

Not happy with this at all and NOT doing a factory reset - why should I have to do this for the update - a complete pain. The update should WORK FLAWLESSLY, and not need customers to reinstall everything!!

The laggy problem seems to be getting better. The Market is back to normal now. As for the network problem, O2 had a major outage in the UK yesterday with SIMS not being authenticated and hence the phone not getting connected, so that coincidence might explain that part of the problem.

Got the update few days back and so far seems to be okay, initially it was lagging but much faster now than 2.3.5 , agreed the old bottom of the page was better.

You can fix the 18 second loading screen problem by going in developer options and unchecking ''Don't keep activities'' on bottom of the menu. :] Maybe even you have to change ''Background process limit''.

About the ICS update - I got the update about a week ago, didn't even know it was out, but i'm really happy with it. It isn't even a bit laggy, and after a couple of tries I managed to get my Quadrant score over 2000 (2039 to be precise).

HTC Sense 3.6 is better too. Previous version Sense wasn't suitable for me, so I used GO launcher from Play store, but now, now I'm really happy with it. It isn't even a bit slow.
Haven't had any bugs or problems so far.

I had updated my HTC Incredible S recently and found ICS was great but had major problems as phone became "laggy" and took more than 16 seconds to get back to Home Screen after hitting the Home Icon.

I did search for the solution on google and found the above trick mentioned by Luckyone199 and it worked wonders!!

Just go to DEVELOPER OPTIONS under Settings and UNCHECK ''DON'T KEEP ACTIVITIES'' on bottom of the menu.

It just worked great and now my phones is ultra-fast and I able to make the best of what ICS had to offer.

It should work for other phones too. I am spreading the news across at other sites too just to help people but I shall surely be referring to you and to this link. Thanks to you Luckyone199 and the source from where you got this information as well as to Androidforums.com.

Guys can anyone list out all that's new with the ICS update for IS. I have just discovered the facelock. Is pretty cool and not laggy. Also i found it a bit surprising with users terming their phone to be laggy after the update. Frankly my phones performance has increased after the update. Now it is like breeze.

Im using HTC Incredible S, updapted my os on last few days, where an update notification pop out and i feel so happy. However, besides a series of upgrade in
functionality and features, what extra annoying we got from this update is difficulty in touching (sometimes i need to touch for few times to get that word on keypad, keypad had became much less sensitive), and phone had became lag. I wonder is this my phone problem or the problem with firmware? I have friend using same version of phone and performed the same update with me, and yet experience the same problem with me.

(FYI, my phone was bought from Hong Kong, and I am now located in the Philippines. So those in the same region can expect to get their system updates anytime now)

First Impression (immediately after the update) - LAGGY! But that is because of all the updates being downloaded by the apps. Just let it update by itself. I also updated the apps from Google Play. After several restarts (even doing some manual restarts myself), performance returned back to normal. Transitions are smooth (not smooth as butter, but better than gingerbread for sure). ICS Rocks! Definitely the best android update yet.

At my phone's current state, I can use it already with no problems whatsoever. But I have decided to go for CafeKampuchia's suggestion to do a factory reset. I want to give my phone a fresh start since this is a big upgrade.

I plan to do the following steps:

1. Backup Contacts and Calendar using HTC Sync

2. Backup SMS to SD Card

3. Remove SD Card
--(backup all photos/music/movies/docs/ to my desktop, Reformat SD Card, copy back all files to SD Card.)

4. Perform Factory Reset

5. Return SD Card

6. Restore Contacts/Calendar/SMS

7. Re-install all Apps

I will let you know how this goes, and if I encounter any problems along the way.

I just finished doing a factory reset. Everything went smoothly! I just followed my plan above. Here's the time I spent doing each step:

- 45 Minutes (took a while, since I was using a full 32GB SD Card)

4. Perform Factory Reset / Initial Phone Setup
- 15 Minutes

5. Return SD Card / Restart Phone
- 5 Minutes

6. Restore Contacts/Calendar/SMS
- 20 Minutes (Most of it spent restoring my SMS messages, took a while)

7. Re-install all Apps
- 30 Minutes (I have lots of apps!)

I was up and running after about 2 hours -- all data and apps restored.

VERDICT - Smoother performance. Less lag. Less jerky movements. Faster loading of apps (Messages/Email/Calendar/etc). Apps are more stable (no crashing).

I strongly suggest you do a factory reset after your ICS Update. Everything just runs smoother and trouble-free. It will bring back that "I just bought a new phone" feeling!

Everytime I attach the cable, on my Laptop the Navigation Program starts up.
On my Desktop, nothing happens except that Charge LED comes on.
I have selected "Ask me" and the default Computer Connection is "Disk Drive".
I have tried different cables, Computer, Setting's etc..
All was well yesterday....anyone else seen this yet?
I have also done a Factory Default.

Have you checked the cables again? The original cable that came with my unit made my phone act weird (same symptoms as yours). Borrowed a cheapo version of the cable, and the problem still persisted.

Then eventually I bought 2 new good quality cables, and everything went back to normal. I use one cable for my desktop, and another cable for my laptop.

After upgrading to ICS, batter performance of the phone has gone drastically down. A fully charged phone without any cell network with only wi-fi enabled gets discharged in approx. 8hrs.

Looking at the power usage shows Stand-by as the major mode which has consumed the power (approx. 81%). Also the discharge rate is fairly constant.

Any idea why this problem may be occurring? I am facing this only after an upgrade to ICS.

Since you are now on HTC ICS with HBOOT 2.02.0002, your only option to root the phone is to unlock the bootloader using the procedure at HTCDEV.com. Once you unlock the bootloader, then you install a custom recovery and that will open the door to installing custom ROMs.

Can anyone tell me the differences? I have only noticed face unlock, new layout, the thing in settings which helps you see what is using your cellular and wifi data and screenshots. Please tell me there is more hidden gems inside which I have missed.

I updated this morning, phone is running fine though it won't register on my mac anymore. I've played around in the settings and set it as a hard drive. I've played with the developer options and still nothing.

Any suggestions?
